The update, which was believed to be rolling out to owners of the AT&T Galaxy Note 2 today, is now available to owners of Samsung’s phablet device and can be found inside the device’s settings. Those who wish to install the update should check for it in the about section of the Galaxy Note 2’s settings. Once the update is available, there should be a prompt to install and once it finishes downloading, the device will be upgraded with the Multi-Window View feature, one of Samsung’s coolest software additions.

We are also seeing reports which indicate that some users having issues installing the update though it’s unclear right now as to why that is. It could be that it’s rolling out in phases. AT&T has not confirmed anything so it remains unclear.

The AT&T Galaxy Note 2 Multi Window View update is now available.

Today’s update is around 180MB in size which means that owners should put aside some time to download and install the firmware. Once that’s done, the device will have access to Multi-Window View which allows owners of the Galaxy Note 2 to split the phablet’s massive display into two by running two separate apps on-screen at once.

So, for instance, the Galaxy Note 2 can run both Facebook and a browser at the same time on the display. The feature can be seen in full detail in the video below.

Other than that feature, it’s unclear exactly what the update brings. The software will remain on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and it could be that the next update for the AT&T Galaxy Note 2 will be Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the current version of Android. Samsung has not yet said when the Galaxy Note 2 should expect Android 4.2 so it remains uncertain as to when owners might expect it.

In the meantime, this latest update brings the AT&T Galaxy Note 2 up to speed with several of the other U.S. variants of the Galaxy Note 2 which already have been updated to run the Multi-Window View feature.

Still waiting for the update. I live in Florida and can’t gauge if it’s here yet. I have to stop checking since it adds a delay, I’m up to 71 hours more to wait. Just wish there was another way to get it.

As much as I like what I read about the Galaxy Note 2, I will not buy another Samsung device unless it is a Google supported Nexus device not tied to a carrier. Samsung is terrible at supporting their phones with updates, and the carriers are worse! (especially Verizon).
