HTC Sense 5.0, which will be arriving with the HTC One in just a few days, is thought to be coming to older HTC devices including the Droid DNA. However, a reliable source has thrown his two cents in saying that while the AT&T HTC One X+ will likely be getting the Sense 5.0 update, the One X may be left behind on a previous version of Sense.

Along with the HTC One, HTC announced the new HTC Sense 5.0, its latest skin for its devices which brings not only a new look, but some new features to the table as well. We know that the software will indeed be coming along with the HTC One but HTC also made it clear that it might be coming to other devices as well in the feature.

The AT&T HTC One X Sense 5.0 update is in doubt.

HTC seemingly confirmed the Sense 5.0 update for global variants of the HTC One X+, HTC Butterfly, HTC One S, and the HTC One X. It also said that some of the features from Sense 5.0 might not arrive for those devices. Today though, we are hearing both good and bad news in regards to the devices that will be upgraded Sense 5.0, particularly, AT&T variants of the device.

Noted HTC leakster, LlabTooFeR, suggests that the AT&T HTC One X+ Sense 5.0 upgrade is a done deal and that owners of the device will receive the upgrade at some point in the future. No time frame was given but we imagine it will take a couple of months for the new software to roll out, at least.

In the same thread, he is asked if the HTC One X will be getting the update. His response is simply that the HTC One X will not be getting Sense 5.0. It’s not clear if he is referring to the AT&T HTC One X specifically, or the HTC One X as a whole.

Whatever the case may be, it isn’t good news for AT&T HTC One X owners who recently had to wait months for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and now may forever be stuck on an outdated version of HTC Sense.

By no means is this confirmation of any of this, it’s strictly rumor, but given the age of the HTC One X+ and the slow Android 4.1 update for the HTC One X, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Sense 5.0 update process play out this way on AT&T.
