AT&T Nokia Lumia 900 Tango Update Rolling Out Soon?

Published

on

The AT&T Nokia Lumia 900 Tango update appears poised to start rolling out to owners who have been waiting to get the latest in Windows Phone software.

According to WPCentral, the software is now sitting on Nokia’s servers which is a sign that the AT&T version of the Lumia 900 is the closest it has ever been to receiving its long awaited Tango update.

Unfortunately, there is no way to predict when it will roll out exactly. It could be a matter of hours, days or even weeks before the Tango update rolls out to Lumia 900 owners on AT&T.

Hopefully though, this is a sign that we’ll see something official about the update soon.

The AT&T Lumia 900’s Tango update could be out soon.

Keep in mind, the Tango update is a minor update for the Lumia 900 unlike the upcoming Windows Phone 7.8 update that will be rolling out later this year.

The Tango update brings along a couple of new features to the Nokia Lumia 900 and chief among them are new messaging options which allow users to add multiple pictures, videos, audio notes and ringtones to their text messages.

There will also be some other smaller changes on board the Tango update that should make the experience on AT&T’s flagship Windows Phone an even better one.

Of course, this update has nothing on the Windows Phone 7.8 update that will be coming to the Lumia 900 later this year in place of the full-fledged Windows Phone 8 Apollo update.

Microsoft will unfortunately not be updating any of its current Windows Phones with the Windows Phone 8 update. Instead, some phones will get Windows Phone 7.8 which is a dumbed down version of the software.

Owners of the Lumia 900 will receive three main pieces of the Windows Phone 8 update with Windows Phone 7.8. Those include:

  • A new start screen that will look like the Windows Phone 8 start screen.
  • Windows Phone 7.8 will bring tile customization with support for three tile sizes.
  • The update will be delivered directly and won’t be rolled out by individual carriers.

The new Start screen can be seen in the video below.

As for the Windows Phone 8 itself, it’s rumored to be coming out at some point in November with manufacturers, Nokia included, rumored to be announcing their devices starting in the month of September.
