AT&T One X Jelly Bean Update Release Date Up in Air as Details Vanish

The long-awaited AT&T HTC One X Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update appeared to be on its way today, thanks to an announcement from AT&T. However, that announcement has since vanished which now leaves the AT&T One X Jelly Bean update up in the air.

Update: AT&T HTC One X Jelly Bean Update Rolling Out Now.

In October, HTC rolled out the HTC One X Jelly Bean update to the international version of the device and since then, carriers all over the world have updated their versions of the HTC One X to Jelly Bean. However, AT&T, which launched the HTC One X on its 4G LTE network last year as its flagship Android device, has remained as one of the only carriers left that hadn’t updated its version to Android 4.1.

The HTC One Jelly Bean update on AT&T was supposed to arrive today. Or so it seemed.

The HTC One Jelly Bean update on AT&T was supposed to arrive today. Or so it seemed.

Today, that seemed to have changed as the company revealed, on its consumer blog, that the One X Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update would be rolling out to owners today. However, just a short time ago, the post was removed from the consumer blog without warning and the information that was there disappeared leaving owners wondering about the update’s whereabouts.

The post revealed many of the contents of the update and also said that owners could expect the software to roll out in the near future. Here is what AT&T’s changelog looked like before it was pulled.

  • Google Now, which provides you with the latest relevant information you need, when you need it. Whether you’re checking the weather, checking flight information, tracking a package or more, you can get the information that matters most immediately in a single swipe.
  • Changes to the notification display that groups updates from the same application together and allows you to expand or collapse any notification.
  • The ability to view the full text of an SMS message and the full photo of a MMS in the notification window.
  • An event notifications display that offers more of the event description, allowing you to quickly see relevant details without having to open an app.
  • New countdown timer for the front-facing camera.

Unfortunately, it’s unclear as to what is going on. AT&T One X owners who have been checking for the update aren’t seeing anything, and AT&T has told Gotta Be Mobile that nothing is confirmed yet. We imagine that AT&T may have jumped the gun by posting the information but it could still be that a full roll out is in the cards for the near future.

Though the information has seemingly been pulled, the fact that it exists is a good sign for those that are hoping for an update in the near future. AT&T likely wouldn’t have posted this information if the update wasn’t ready or at least close to being ready to roll out to the general public.

Hopefully, the situation gets resolved soon and the long-awaited HTC One X Jelly Bean update for AT&T rolls out, before more mid-range phones beat it to the software.

I had to go check for the update manually. I don’t think this will be a push update.

    I’m in south Alabama FWIW.
