5 Things to Know About Batman Arkham Knight for PC

Published

on

Batman Arkham Knight for PS4 and Xbox One have both experienced some initial problems though nothing on par with the problems plaguing the PC version of the game. With the game now unavailable, we take a look at everything current owners and prospective buyers need to know about the Batman Arkham Knight PC release including a new release date.

Earlier this week, Rocksteady and Warner Brothers finally released the third installment in the Batman series for console and PC. Batman Arkham Knight puts Xbox One, PS4 and PC owners into the shoes of Batman and several of his allies as they battle villains across the massive skyline of Gotham City.

While the game has received solid reviews from gamers and critics alike, it’s not without its problems. Batman Arkham Knight problems plague owners of the Xbox One and PS4 though it’s owners of the PC version of the game that are frustrated with the game’s performance.

Yesterday we told you about a number of Batman Arkham Knight problems plaguing the game in the hours since its launch earlier this week. While some of these issues are small glitches and bugs, owners of the Batman Arkham Knight PC release have been complaining about serious issues with the game.

With these problems in mind, we want to take a look at the Batman Arkham Knight PC release and tell current owners and prospective buyers the most important things to know right now.

You Can No Longer Buy Batman Arkham Knight for PC

In the hours after its release, owners of Batman Arkham Knight for PC started complaining about major performance issues on social media and on the official forums for the game.

Yesterday, the company acknowledged big problems with the PC version of the game. Then, late last night, it made the decision to suspend sales while it works to improve the overall quality of the game.

We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC. We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards.  We greatly value our customers and know that while there are a significant amount of players who are enjoying the game on PC, we want to do whatever we can to make the experience better for PC players overall.

If you try to buy the game through Steam, you’re not going to be able to make a purchase. Instead, you’ll be greeted with a message that reads:

Sales of Batman: Arkham Knight have been temporarily suspended while Warner Brothers works to address performance issues.

You can, at least for the time being, buy the PC version of the game through other retailers like Amazon. (It appears to be a third-party selling the game on Amazon though.) We would not recommend doing so, however.

They Are Working On Fixes

Rocksteady and Warner Brothers have made it clear that they won’t be scrapping the game completely. Instead, this move appears to be a temporary withdrawal back to the lab so that they can improve the game ahead of a re-release.

…we want to thank you for your patience as we work to deliver an updated version of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC so you can all enjoy the final chapter of the Batman: Arkham series as it was meant to be played.

It’s not clear if they will send out a patch to current owners of the game between now and the re-release though the companies do encourage those with the game to continue to provide feedback about bugs and issues with the game so that they can make fixes behind the scenes.

You Can & Should Provide Feedback

The developer is encouraging PC users to provide feedback about Batman Arkham Knight so they can make the appropriate corrections.

If you are looking to provide feedback about the PC version of the game, you’ll want to head to this part of the forum and outline your issue or issues. You can find a template for your complaints on the forum right here.

New Batman Arkham Knight PC Release Date

Warner Brothers and Rocksteady haven’t confirmed a specific date for the game’s re-release for PC though the Steam page hints a potential timeframe.

Batman: Arkham Knight will be available on SteamOS, Linux and Mac in Fall 2015.

In other words, it looks like it won’t be out this summer and will instead arrive on or after September 23rd. September 23rd represents the start of fall.

We aren’t sure when the developer will confirm another release date for the game or a patch so owners of the game and those thinking about buying it will need to remain patient.

You Can Request a Refund

If you already bought Batman Arkham Knight for PC on Steam, or another location, and you can’t deal with the issues, you can request a refund:
