Glooko

The Glooko app allows you to download glucose, insulin and carb information right to your iPhone or Android. This works with a wide variety of devices, but you do need a $59.99 annual subscription and that includes a syncing device for this to work. You may be eligible for a free or discounted subscription, so ask at your DR or ask your insurance company.

You can check to see if your meter is compatible with the app and the syncing tool that you will need to use to get the data to your iPhone or Android. Here are some of the features this provides.

  • Sync readings from 50+ meters and popular insulin pumps* and CGMs to create one, cohesive logbook.
  • Search the built-in food database to log your carb intake.
  • Add notes, manually or automatically, about carbs, insulin, and exercise to gain contextual data into the factors that affect your glucose readings.
  • Automatically integrate data from Fitbit, Jawbone UP, Strava, Moves, etc. to correlate your activity, weight, and BP with your glucose data.
  • View weekly trends to see week-to-week or day-to-day patterns in your glucose and insulin data.
  • See a 24-hour view of your glucose, insulin, and carb activities to help optimize your treatment plan.
  • View your glucose trends in multiple ways: chronologically, by periods in the day, in a graph, or statistics.
  • Receive reminders to test or take your insulin or other medications, or for any other action you want to be reminded about.
  • Sync your glucose data across supported mobile devices and to your MyGlooko web app (at my.glooko.com).

With Glooko you can start to see the correlations between your glucose level and what you eat or what you do, so that you can start making smarter choices using data instead of hunches.

The PredictBGL App also does the same thing, but unlike MySugr, it is designed for people with T1 diabetes. PredictBGL also includes LIVE dexcom data, whereas MySugr is delayed by at least 3 hours, making it far less useful.

As a Type 1 diabetic, the technology available can be a god-send in monitoring and anticipating sugar highs and lows. The CGM is an integral part of a management and predictive program. Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover CGM products so us seniors are left to find out our glucose levels after the fact.

How the hell did you decide which apps to review and rate? There are far better apps than those you choose… As a type 1 diabetic I would recommend Diabetes:M, it’s far better than all of those (maybe without mysugr). Please review more apps before writing such posts … It’s just hilarious to say those are “the best”.

I just wanted to let you know about an app that I use and love. The app is called “Diabetes:M”. It is free and has helped me manage my diabetes. I am a Type 1. It lets you log carbs, insulin, etc. and you can send all of the info from it by e-mail to your provider. It has graphs and charts that help out a lot as well. Hope this helps someone else as much as it has helped me. Thanks.

A great app that has many features is Wellocity Health. It allows you to track blood glucose, carb counting, weight, medication, exercise, and much more! It’s great if you have other health conditions too like hypertension. There is also educational material if you ever feel like reading more about diabetes. It’s free on the app store!
