Sony Cybershot RX 100

The Sony Cybershot RX 100 is the best pocket camera money can buy. At $649, the RX 100 is much more expensive than other point-and-shoot cameras and is a worthy alternative to cameras with interchangeable-lens, especially for people looking for excellent image quality without all the complexity. To put it simply, the RX 100 trounces any other camera that can fit in your pocket.

In previous years, we've raved about the high-end of Canon's Powershot line, including the Canon S95 and S100. Sony leapfrogged Canon in 2012 with the RX 100. Those willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a pocket camera and care about capturing the best possible images should skip the Canon Powershots and all others and buy the RX 100.

The RX100 produces incredibly sharp and detailed photos for a camera of its size thanks to a 20.2 MP sensor. That sensor measures 1" diagonally, which is the same size as what's found in most Nikon and Canon DSLRs found on store shelves, save for the professional models that cost thousands of dollars.

Sony's little camera performs exceptionally well in low light because of its 3.6x zoom f1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens.
