    I ran a few searches on Google and Bing and Google did a better job on all of them.

    Many of my searches these days are on Google Scholar. Unless Bing offers something like that, I’m sticking with Google. Plus my name comes up higher on Google results. ;-)

    I tried Bing and will use it together with Google as my primary goto.

    I was tracking iPhone rumors and it worked at least as well as Google. Then I saw a rumor about OLED screens, so I thought, what are the advantages of one over the other. I typed into Bing “OLED vs LED” Results… none. Went to Google and used the same thing and got pages of hits, including a very good article at the top.

    I guess Google’s semantic search works.

    Whereas I wouldn’t use Live Search if you paid me (well, I should rephrase that, but you get the idea), Bing’s options appear worth the ride. It isn’t a cherry, but it isn’t rotten either. So now, where I might use AltaVista or Yahoo as a secondary search, I will probably use Bing.

    When I went on Bing, I searched for GoodThings2Life, and very surprisingly, it ranks my actual web site #1, followed by all the actual sites and forums I’m on from there… much better than Google.

    When I search for “Aaron Hall” I get that “famous singer guy” listings first on both (no surprise there) … MTV and VH1 profiles first, and then I get either my site OR the Minnesota Attorney of the same name’s site.

    So basically, the results are pretty much the same. I’ll do some other typical searches tonight and see if I can’t find any actual distinctions.

    You know, I really don’t like to make people look like liars, but I do enjoy calling “BS” from time to time…

    Seriously… you found nothing? Maybe try pushing Enter after typing or clicking the orange magnifying glass picture…

    PS– Regarding my “better than Google” claim about the GT2L search, I stand corrected, Google now places my own site at the top which must be pretty new result rankings, because the last time I did that search was a few months ago and it still had PPCGeeks.com and a few other sites listed higher.

    @GoodThings2Life…

    It looks like Bing is modal! Going to Bing.com and putting in “OLED vs LED” does indeed get results. /However/, I had been using Bing features, and in trying to duplicate the failure (I do tech support and do know about customers failing to hit the enter key) I discovered that I did the new search after pressing the NEWS link to the top left of the search page of my “iPhone rumors” search.

    Since I don’t know how to post a flicker movie, here is the repro actions: (1) Search for “iphone rumor”. (2) On the top left, under “All Results”, click “News”. (3) Type in the search string “OLED vs LED” (4) Press Enter.

    I am guessing that something happened to put me in a mode where I’m searching previous results. Not a bad idea, but there is NO indication that I would be doing that on the previous page or that I was in that modal state when on the search failure page. Instead is states the following (and look at the last entry in the list, no joke! I know, RTFM, but where is that?):

    Bing…
    We did not find any results for oled vs led. Please try the following suggestions:

    Ah, excellent clarification and definitely something important to be aware of when searching! :)
