Black Ops 3 Beta: 5 Things Not to Expect

Published

on

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta starts in the early hours overnight and while you prepare to play we are here to give you a look at what you shouldn’t expect from the Black Ops 3 beta.

Treyarch and Activision are teasing and promoting the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta across social media and with early streaming sessions from YouTube COD players to amp up the excitement.

Even though the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 release date isn’t until November 6th, the level of interest in the Black Ops 3 beta is incredibly high across the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Update: Start Your PS4 Black Ops 3 Beta Download Early

The PS4 Black Ops 3 beta starts at 12:01 AM August 19th and the Xbox One and PC Black Ops 3 beta starts on August 26th at 12:01 AM. All of these times are Pacific.

You can use this guide to prepare for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta now, and read on to learn what not to expect from Activision, Treyarch and Call of Duty.

Don’t Expect to Play at Midnight

Here's what not to expect during the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta.

Here’s what not to expect during the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta.

Most gamers should not expect to play the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta at midnight. First off, the game comes out at 3:01 AM Eastern, which is too late for many players.

Unless you pre-order the game on PSN or Xbox Live you will need to wait for your beta code to arrive and the roll out starts at 12:01 AM Pacific with no promise on how fast you will get your code.

There’s also the fact that this is a 15GB download before you can play.

Don’t Expect a Black Ops 3 Beta Pre-load

Activision and Treyarch are not offering any way to download the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta before the beta starts or to download the beta on a faster connection and transfer to your console at home.

If possible, you may want to run a wired Ethernet cable to your PS4 for a faster download so you can play quicker.

Don’t Expect a Flawless Delivery of Download Codes

At this point you should already be registered for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta. If you aren’t you should do that now so that you will get the beta token you need for the Black Ops 3 beta download.

Activision is emailing these codes to users starting at 12:01 AM Pacific on the day that the beta starts for your platform. You need a separate code for each platform. We would not be surprised to see all the codes arrive in every participant email without problems.

The odds are good that Activision will not send a code to someone or spam filters will hide it or someone will try to use the registration code to download the beta on the PS4.

If you pre-ordered Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 at Amazon do not cancel your pre-order until after the beta ends if you decide not to buy the game. Some reports suggest Amazon is canceling beta codes if you cancel your pre-order.

Don’t Expect to Play for the Full Beta Period

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta is short, so many gamers will want to play as much as possible during the five-day span. Activision confirmed that the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta servers will be down for some of the time.

“Because this is a beta, periodic maintenance will be necessary throughout the gameplay period.”

There is no exact timing, and odds are good that at some point you will sit down, boot up and see a servers down message during the short window you have to play. Follow @Treyarch on Twitter for updates.

Count on some Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta problems.

Count on some Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta problems.

During the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta live streams some users reported connection problems, so this may be a bigger issue when the servers are crowded with more players.

Don’t Expect Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombies

There is a lot of content in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta with three maps, seven modes and eight specialists. The one thing that is not available is Black Ops 3 Zombies. Don’t expect to see any Zombies added to the game during the beta period.

Black Ops 3 Release Date

Black Ops 3 Release Date

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 release date is November 6th. This is a Friday and Treyarch explains that this is timed to allow gamers to set aside a weekend to enjoy and immerse themselves in the game without the looming arrival of work that a traditional Tuesday release entails.

Gamers can pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on disc or digital now, with multiple versions of the game available. If you choose not to pre-order you will have no trouble finding a game on the release date, unless you want a special edition.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 release date arrives simultaneously for Xbox One, PS4, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Black Ops 3 comes from another developer and will not include all the same features and upgrades.

Standard versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 start at $59.99 and go up to $199.99 for a special edition. There is also a Season Pass for $49.99 with access to DLC content in 2016. The PS4 gets DLC content a month ahead of the Xbox One.

If you want to cancel period, and you play on anything other than a ps4, you should put your gaming days behind you. You aren’t worthy.
