Black Ops 3 PS4 Bundle Is Unbelievable

Sony, makers of the PlayStation 4 and all of its related services, has a special surprise for those picking up Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 3. There’s a Blacks Ops 3 PS4 bundle that absolutely has to be seen to be believed.

Sony surprised everyone this afternoon when it unveiled the Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 3 PS4 bundle. Arriving this fall, the bundle has an unorthodox design to say the least. The console is attracting a lot of attention, mostly because it looks pretty out-of-the ordinary.

The Call of Duty Blacks Ops 3 PS4 Bundle will launch on November 6th in the United States, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog. That’s the same day is boxed and digital copies of Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 3 go on sale for $449.99.

When designing a custom console bundle, typically both Microsoft and Sony start with a basic paint color and emblem, then work to integrate the game’s identify into the console’s surface and included controller. The Black Ops 3 PS4 Bundle has the game’s orange roman numerals stamped on the top. Those orange lines and accents run through the front cover of the Black Ops 3 PS4 too. Flanking the PS4 logo on the right corner of the face of the console are symbols inspired by the game. The DualShock 4 Controller that comes with the Black Ops 3 PS4 Bundle has orange surfaces for its directional pad and joysticks. The III logo appears on this controller too. Sony plans to let users buy the controller separately from the rest of the bundle.

Sony says that the marks on the front of the Black Ops 3 PS4 is taken from the Winslow Accord faction featured in Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 3’s main story. Besides the different paint job, there’s other reasons to buy the Black Ops 3 PS4 bundle. It’s the only PS4 console available in the United States that includes a whopping 1TB of internal storage. Standard PS4 consoles come with 500GB of storage, half of what this console bundle. More storage allows users to keep more games on their PS4 instead of having to constantly switch them out when they run out of space.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 PS4 bundle comes with a standard copy of the game, plus the NUK3TOWN map. This map is exclusive for multiplayer and is a remake of a popular map that appeared in an early edition of Black Ops. PS4 owners already get access to any map packs for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 before Xbox One owners. To be clear, all of these maps aren’t free; players still have to purchase them in the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Season Pass or separately when they arrive. Xbox One owners will have to wait a month before they get access to these same maps and add-ons. The situation is a complete reversal for the Call of Duty franchise. Map packs for earlier games came to Xbox consoles first.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 takes place in 2065 when biotechnology has reached its zenith. Advances in medical technology have allowed governments to create entire armies with arms and legs that’ve been replaced with built-in weaponry. An early trailer for the game showed the evolution of this technology over time. Soldiers with the technology are able to move faster and do other super-human things that regular humans can’t.

Word is that Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 3 will focus on the fears that this technology breeds. Apparently, the public at large is worried about robots fitted with the technology taking over the world. Because it takes place in the future, the weapons in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 are futuristic too. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 also has revamped multiplayer with characters of their own. Each of these characters has a backstory and specific abilities that only they poses. Developer Treyarch calls this class system Specialists. Players can customize their weapons and add-ons.
