Leap Motion Brings ‘Minority Report’ Computing to Life is a post by Xavier Lanier from Gotta Be Mobile.

Leap Motion is readying a sensor that translates mid-air gestures into precise computer actions. The Leap is a small device about the same size as a smartphone that creates a 3D interaction space in front of any computer’s display.

The Leap is a lot different than the Microsoft’s Kinect system, which is designed to track gamers’ movements when playing the XBOX 360. Kinect does a decent job of sensing gross movements, bit the leap is 200 times more accurate than Microsoft’s device. This means it can sense fine movements, such as finger gestures. It’s even accurate enough to allow users to write with their fingers. The company claims its device is accurate to within 1/100 of a millimeter.

This device can be used to draw in 3D, sign documents, create and manipulate 3D models, and play computer games.

Leap Motion posted an interesting video demo of its technology that focuses on many of the same tasks and use-cases we’ve seen demonstrated with touchscreens for years. The biggest issue with this kind of technology is that users simply can’t keep their hands moving in front of them for extended periods of time. Sure, it can be fun to swipe at a map for a while, but arms and hands can get tired after using such devices after just a few minutes.

The Leap Motion is available now for pre-order for just $69.99, which is in the same neighborhood as a high-end mouse. The relatively low price point will allow users and developers to experiment with motion tracking without breaking the bank.

This Kickstarter project receives audio from your iOS device or Mac using AirPlay technology giving you the option to continue listening to the same album you enjoyed in your car when you get home.

Unplug the headphones and hit the AirPlay button on the music player on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad and continue enjoying your jams.

With the playGo AP1 you can connect using Wi-Fi or Ethernet and your home network. It supports DLNA so that even DRM audio and video will work. The playGo AP1 syncs with any iOS device and plays from apps like the built-in Music or Videos app, Pandora, Rhapsody, Spotify and more. The streaming supports lossless audio, so you get higher quality sound. Use it for audio from music, podcasts, games and video.

Two things makes this project worthwhile. The playGo AP1 compares to the Apple TV in size, meaning you don’t have a huge new component hooked up to your stereo system. They also kept the price to a reasonable amount. All AirPlay systems cost more than you’d expect. Some cost $300 or more.

You could go with the $99 Apple AirPort Express, but that doesn’t include Gigabit connections or anything other than 802.11n. The playGo AP1 makes more sense if you don’t want to replace your current networking solution.

You can also plug in your iOS device using the built-in USB port to stream audio as you charge your device. This also helps people who don’t have new iOS devices with AirPlay.

The playGo AP1 is available now as a Kickstarter project. If the company reaches their $150,000 goal by July 5, 2012, then you can get yours. The funding levels are as follows:

$10 - a white playGo TOSLINK audio cable

$199 – a playGo AP1 unit if you’re one of the first 1,000

$225 – a playGo AP1 unit if as well at the lower initial price

$399 – a unit plus “premium powered speakers”

$549 – a playGo AP1 multi-room pack with 3 units and all you need for listening in 3 rooms

$1,499 – a special playGo AP1 unit with a corian finish and the speakers as well as an invite to the launch party in NY

$8,750 – for dealers who wish to sell the unit – they will receive 50 units

BICOM plans to charge $275 for the unit after the Kickstarter project finishes. They estimate delivery in November 2012.

Capta serves as a stand for your smartphone, a tripod mount and a cable organizer. The case costs $34.95 and works with any smartphone that has a flat back thanks to the sticky pad.

If you stick the special pad to the back of your phone, then the company claims it will hold the phone securely. If you twist your phone it pops off without leaving any residue from the sticky pad. The sticky pad works with an iPhone in a case, naked or with other smart phones in our out of a case.

Capta serves as a stand so you can view video, do a FaceTime or Skype chat, or show off pictures. Lean your device against it or let it hold it up at a 90 degree angle.

Attach to the phone when in use or remove it and wrap your charging/syncing cable or headphones around it for easy cable management. The sticky pad holds the cables in place. Attach the Capta to your tripod so you can use it for taking steady pictures or video with your phone’s camera.

BiteMyApple is a distributor. The site is a kind of “as seen on TV” for Kickstarter projects. The site promises that the pad will hold your iPhone securely. Notice the picture above showing the iPad on a tripod leaning down to take a picture. The sticky pad is the only thing holding the phone on the tripod mount.

If the pad gets dirty, just run water over the pad and remove the dust or debris with your fingers. Let it air dry before you use it again.

I used a dash mount from Scosche that had a similar material and it worked really well except when it got dirty. Cleaning it refreshed the pad.

Get yours at ByteMyApple for only $34.95. They also offer the TiltPod I recently reviewed and the Cosmonaut stylus that Warner and I both backed on Kickstarter.

GottaBeFunded: gTar is an iPhone Powered Guitar Tutor is a post by Shawn Ingram from Gotta Be Mobile.

The gTar is a new iPhone music accessory that teaches guitar fundamentals while doubling as an electronic instrument.

The gTar looks like a cross between an electric guitar and an Rock Band guitar with an iPhone dock on the body, just below the strings. When paired with an iPhone, the gTar teaches users how to play songs by lighting up LEDs on the fret board.

The app starts out slowly, though. On easy mode, users only need to play the correct string. Medium mode makes users actually press down on the frets, but compensates for missed notes. Hard mode doesn’t compensate, and makes the player hit every note correctly.

The app does limit users to a small selection of songs, but the catalog is growing every week . Backers that pledge at least $599 can even request other songs for the catalog.

The gTar does much more than teach songs, however. The iPhone app also offers a number of effects and sounds, making it a true electronic instrument. The guitar interface creates a new way to create electronic music, one that is likely more comfortable for many musicians.

Incident, the team behind the gTar, hope to raise at least $100,000 to create the gTar. The project has brought in $30,000 so far. Fundraising ends on June 25, which leaves plenty of time to raise the remaining goal. The backing prices are steep compared to most Kickstarter projects, however, with the Limited Early Bird Tier starting at $350. That tier only has 200 available slots. The next tier has a limit of 500 backers and costs $399, with the standard tier running $450.

Discovered by Gizmodo, the case represents something profoundly different in the world of waterproof iPhone cases. While most waterproof iPhone cases are bulky and ugly, the Case Marine is both attractive and thin. The case only measures a mere .25mm in thickness, much thinner than the waterproof cases iPhone owners will find online or in retail stores.

In fact, the Case Marine is so thin, that another smartphone case can be put over the top of it.

The case fits both the iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S II and it’s made of polyurethane. It also features a clear panel that sits right on top of the screen of the phone, protecting it from harm.

Read: Top 10 iPhone 4S Cases.

Speaking of that, the case allows the phone to be brought to underwater depths of 32 feet. We doubt many people will take their phone to that level but it’s nice knowing that that kind of protect is in place.

While that’s all gravy, there is a caveat that comes with the case. It appears as though it’s only on sale in Japan. Those that live in Japan are able to acquire the basic version of the Case Marine for a mere $15 while a premium version of the case checks in at $38 which is still relatively inexpensive for a case.

The premium version of the case protects the back panel on the phone.

The maker of the Case Marine says that an iPad version of the case will soon go on sale for $50 and we can only hope that at some point, the company takes there wares to the United States and elsewhere.

In the meantime, U.S. residents might want to look at case maker iOttie which offers something similar for both the iPhone and iPad.

According to CNET UK, online retailer Mobile Fun is already selling a number of accessories for the Galaxy S III, though none of them have a scheduled shipping date. Among the accessories are the C-Pen stylus, a flip cover, a WiFi streaming dongle, and a couple of docks.

The C-Pen stylus, is a Samsung-designed stylus, but it doesn’t work like the S-Pen stylus on the Galaxy Note. The C-Pen stylus is a capacitive stylus similar to the variety of styli available for the iPad, iPhone and every other capacitive touchscreen device. Unfortunately the stylus won’t work on any device. It looks to have a smaller point than most other capacitive styli. Mobile Fun sells the C-Pen for £20 (about $32).

The online retailer also has the official Samsung flip cover on sale for both the white and blue versions of the Galaxy S III. Whereas most phone flip covers serve as cases that cover the entire phone, the Galaxy S III flip cover replaces the battery door, essentially making it part of the phone. It seems a bit odd, but it’s the same way flip covers work on Samsung’s Galaxy Note. The flip covers sell for £30 (about $48).

Other accessories include a “Holder and Battery Charger” (£35), WiFi Display Hub (£75), and a desktop dock (no price announced).

We’ve recently seen cases for the Galaxy S III from third-party case makers. As the phone’s release gets closer we expect to see a flood of accessories.

Noticeably absent from the collection of accessories is the Samsung S Pebble, the ridiculous MP3 player that syncs to the Samsung Galaxy S III. We still don’t know when the accessory will ship or how much it will cost.

The SRS iWOW wants to help by boosting the sound that comes out of any mobile device.

According to The Gadgeteer, the SRS iWOW Universal is a small device that plugs into the 3.5mm headphone jack of any device. The device boosts the quality of the sound that passes through it giving users “an amazing HD-quality listening experience for all music, movies, games or other audio tracks.”

The SRS iWOW Universal delivers “natural and immersive HD-quality sound with substantial bass enhancement” by using “professionally tuned presets.” There are a number of presets, so users can change the sound to their liking.

The small device will also find details lost in the sound files’ compression and attempt to restore them. It should work to make older tracks sound like the artist intended. Newer songs, or albums that were “Mastered for iTunes” likely won’t have as much detail buried in the source file.

The Lithium-ion battery inside the SRS iWOW Universal should last for about six hours and charges via a mini-USB port. That should last most users a full day.

The SRS iWOW Universal sells for $69.99, and the SRS iWOW-UF which features interchangeable faceplates sells for $79.99. That’s a bit expensive for a device that improves the sound of a smartphone or tablet. The price might be worth it for some, but most users likely have no issue with the sound that comes out of their devices. For the latter, the price probably isn’t worth it.

Lusso Cartella Luxury iPad Case Review is a post by Adam Mills from Gotta Be Mobile.

The craftsmanship and elegance of the Lusso Cartella Luxury iPad case will lure you in, but unfortunately, the case has some drawbacks that make its $199 price tag hard to swallow.

When I first received the Lusso Cartella Luxury iPad case, I was absolutely blown away. The presentation of the thing is about as classy as you’re going to find in the world of iPad cases. The case itself comes in a beautiful box, wrapped in a sheath which protects the cases beautiful, hand-crafted leather. The company uses the word ‘luxurious’ to describe its cases and it’s dead-on in its assessment.

Once I unsheathed the case, I marveled at its design. Each one of Lusso Cartella’s cases is handmade and the one I reviewed, the iPad Folio Business Case, sported gorgeous Kodiak tan leather. Believe me when I say this, when I took this thing out in public, it got more than a few stares.

Read: 35 New iPad Cases, Covers, Sleeves and Skins.

And that’s what Lusso Cartella is striving for with its cases. It wants them to standout among the crowd and frankly, the case does just that, at least in the looks department.

The top of the case features a pocket that zips open and closed. Inside the pocket, there is storage for things like pens, business cards, and even a small notepad if you so want.

Flipping open the folio, you’ll find two sides. On the left hand side, there is a sleeve where a larger notepad could be stored. On the right hand side is where the iPad goes and it gets locked in by four straps which sit in the four corners. Not once did I ever feel like my iPad was in danger of falling out or moving.

You can also bend back one of the sides to prop up the device so that you can easily use it in landscape or portrait mode while still in the case. The straps don’t protrude onto the screen which means gestures are uninhibited.

I should also mention that the case perfectly fit both my iPad 2 and my new third-generation iPad.

So yes, it has a great looks, the pockets are extremely useful especially for the business type and it has good security. but for me, that’s where the allure ended.

The case is fairly bulky and because it’s leather, it’s pretty heavy. The protruding pocket on the top doesn’t help matters. I have big hands and it was a chore to carry it around outside of a larger bag, If you’re looking for a thin case, this is not it.

Another drawback is its price. Yes, you get a very unique, handmade, functional case, but there are other iPad cases out there that offer more functionality for a lot less in price.

Overall, this is an iPad case whose craftsmanship is virtually unrivaled and a case that will probably never show up twice in the same room. Most people will be better off spending their money elsewhere. But for those that relish luxury and want something truly different, know that you’ll get a great case that will last you for years to come.

Pros

+ Beautiful handmade design

+ Spacious pockets

+ Good protection

Cons

Une Bobine, French for coil, is a flexible gooseneck iPhone cable that keeps the iPhone in an endless number of positions at home, at the office and in the car.

One of my favorite parts about this cable is that it works plugged in or as a stand wherever it’s needed.

The Une Bobine cable is capable of twisting and holding shape to suite a variety of needs including;

Facetime calls

Tripod for iPhone

Easy monitor level iPhone stand

in-car iPhone GPS holder

Wrapped around anything at hand

Check out the Kickstarter video below to see the many applications of the Une Bobine iPhone cable, which has just surpassed 200% funding with 36 days to go.

Une Bobine charges and syncs the iPhone when connected to a computer, and can charge from any USB port. The cable is sturdy enough to support landscape mode, which is a nice touch for photographers and anyone who wants to use this in their car.

I’m backing this project because it looks like a perfect way to charge my iPhone in the car while keeping it within reach for pausing and playing music. You can see an example of the Une Bobine in use in a car below.

If you’re a fan of Une Bobine, but aren’t ready to fund it on Kickstarter, why not vote for Une Bobine in the William McShane Fund, a contest that provides startup funding and a retail launch in Brookstone stores.

Kickstarter funding for Une Bobine starts at $25 for one Une Bobine cable, and funding runs to June 15th.

Etcher Turns the iPad into Etch A Sketch is a post by Xavier Lanier from Gotta Be Mobile.

Etcher is an iPad case and app that turn the tablet into a digital Etch a Sketch. At first glance the Etcher is nearly indistinguishable from an old-school Etch A Sketch, but you can obviously do a lot more with the digital version.

Like the original, Etcher has a red bezel and two white dials to move the cursor horizontally and vertically. Holding true to Etch A Sketch tradition, Etcher users must complete their drawings using a single continuous line. The dials are retractable for when users aren’t line drawing.

The Etcher doubles as a fully functional iPad case. There are cutouts for the cameras, headphone jack and home button.

Those with superior drawing skills will be able to make some interesting works of art.

The makers of the original Etch A Sketch gave the Etcher inventor its blessing to produce this product. It’s also received Apple’s stamp of approval in the form of its Made for iPad program.

Etcher isn’t available quite yet, but you can pre-order one through Kickstarter for $45. Kickstarter is an online community that helps link up creators with people interested in their products before they produce them. This allows consumers to be the first ones to get devices as they roll of the production line. It also helps innovators raise money to spin up production without raising money from investors or taking out loans. The Etcher inventor needs to raise $75,000 for the first production run. This is the first day of fundraising for this project on Kickstarter, with 53 backers contributing $3,149 so far. Fundraising for this iPad accessory ends on June 9.

Logitech Introduces Night Vision Security Cameras is a post by Xavier Lanier from Gotta Be Mobile.

Logitech is expanding its security camera line with an indoor night vision camera system. The Alert 750n Master System and the standalone Alert 700n are able to beam whatever’s going on in your home to your mobile devices, even when the lights are off.

The new cameras are ideal for being able to see what went bump in the night, allowing you to see if an intruder is in your home before potentially confronting them. Logitech already offers a compatible outdoor night vision camera.

Both the Alert 750n Master System and Alert 700n shoot HD videio (960 x 720@ 15fps) and have a 130-degree viewing angle. Up to a week’s worth of recordings are saved onto a microSD card and are offloaded to your PC through a home’s power system. This means users don’t have to worry about potential wireless network issues. The system can also store footage on DropBox, which is great considering PCs are one of the first things burglars swipe.

The night vision capabilities on these new cameras is excellent. This is a photo of what some items look like in a completely dark closet.

Logitech Alert cameras can be viewed remotely with an iPad, iPhone, Android phone or BlackBerry smartphone. The system can be expanded to up to six cameras so you can cover every angle of your house.

Logitech does offer exterior cameras, but you can also mount interior cameras on windows. This is an easier installation than running power to a home’s exterior. The downside of mounting a 750n or 700n like this is that the infrared light emitted by the cameras will be reflected back by the glass, negating the whole nigh vision thing.

This is an overview of the Logitech Alert system.

The Logitech Alert 750n Master System is available this month for $299. Additional 700n add-on cameras are available for $229.

Those who have been toting one around might be thinking about picking up a case, and quite possibly one that adds a kickstand to the mix. If that’s the case, today is a lucky today as the HTC One S kickstand case will be coming soon.

Problem is, it’ll cost an arm and a leg.

Engadget has gotten its hands on some cases for the HTC One S, including a kickstand case, cases that should be hitting shelves at some point in the near future. That’s the good news. The bad news is that the case that includes kickstand functionality is going to be pretty pricey.

Read: HTC One S Review.

The plain HTC One S case is going to run a fairly reasonable $24.99. However, the kickstand case is going to cost a whopping $39.99. That’s not cheap, even for a case that has a precision-molded flexible plastic shell.

The cases kickstand is made of metal alloy and it’s spring loaded. But that doesn’t change the fact that it costs $40, a price that is certainly going to price quite a few consumers out.

In a bit of a consolation prize, it will also come in four different colors. Gray, granita which is a variant of red, navy blue and black.

Read: T-Mobile’s HTC One S Is Good, But Customers Should Wait.

Those of you looking to add a case to the HTC One S will want to keep an eye out for these cases in the near future and those that are looking to add a kickstand will want to start saving immediately.

Would you pay $40 for a HTC One S kickstand case?

Now, we have learned that the S Pebble is actually an MP3 player that relies on the Galaxy S III to function.

According to Engadget, the S Pebble is a 4GB MP3 player similar to the Pebble MP3 player lineup Samsung introduced a few years ago. The tiny device has a clip on the back like the current iPod shuffle and iPod nano, and has a long 17 hour battery life. It comes in the same Marble White and Pebble Blue colors as the Galaxy S III.

Samsung wants users to view the S Pebble as more of an accessory than a standalone device. To reinforce that point, the S Pebble cannot sync to a PC or Mac. Instead, the S Pebble syncs to the Galaxy S III, so users have to load their music on the smartphone before they can load it on the 4GB MP3 player.

Samsung designed the S Pebble for runners, but doesn’t offer any features beyond an iPod shuffle. The device offers no GPS or pedometer. There’s no way to use the S Pebble as a fitness tracker, only as a way to listen to music on while running, jogging, or doing anything else. The one big feature it has is that it allows runners to leave their expensive 4.8-inch Galaxy S III at home while running.

Samsung hasn’t announced pricing or availability for the S Pebble yet, but we expect to see it soon. Although, we wouldn’t be too surprised if the device ends up being hard to find in the U.S.

The PoP Video is a small projector that attaches to the dock connector of the iPhone or iPod touch. The projector rests on the bottom of the device, essentially making the iPhone into the projector. There’s no complicated setup required, and the projector doesn’t need to stand on a table, users can just hold it in their hand.

PoP Video appears to only works with its own free app, but that app lets users project a range of content including photos, video, and websites on Safari. Hopefully Pop will clarify if users can mirror the iPhone’s display or if users are limites to this app. The projected image has a resolution of 960×540, which isn’t great, but is good enough for quickly sharing content from the iPhone.

Like all projectors, the PoP Video still needs a dark room if users hope to see the video. It will work on any surface, but a bright room will make the projected image very hard if not impossible to see.

The pico projector can last for about two hours on a full charge, though it’s hard to imagine a scenario where anybody would need to use it for that long at once. The device charges via micro-USB.

Recent rumors say the next iPhone will use a different, smaller dock connector, which means this device might only get a few months of use from early adopters. We still don’t know for sure if the dock connector will change, but it might be worth remembering when pre-ordering the $99 PoP Video.

It’s newest keyboard case is solar-powered and will rarely need a charge.

The Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio is more of a traditional case than the Ultrathin Keyboard Cover the company recently released. The new case wraps around the back of the iPad with the keyboard folding over on top of the screen. As with the Ultrathin Keyboard Cover, the Solar Keyboard Folio uses magnets to take advantage of the instant wake/sleep function of the iPad.

Read: iPad Keyboard Case Buying Guide

The solar panels on of the Solar Keyboard Folio will charge from any light indoors or out, so as long as any light reaches the solar panels users won’t have to worry about charging the keyboard. Logitech claims the keyboard will even work for two years in complete total darkness, though most users probably won’t have to test that out.

The solar panels do add some width to the iPad due to the batteries needed. Logitech doesn’t say how much width the case adds, but it doesn’t look like too much from the images we see.

While the Solar Keyboard Folio is mostly for typing, the case offers two different viewing angles. The first viewing angle puts the iPad just above the keyboard for easy typing. The second viewing angle places the iPad on top of the keyboard for better video watching.

The Logitech Solar Keyboard Folio is available for pre-order now for $129.99. It’s a bit more expensive than the $99.99 Ultrathin Keyboard Cover, but it does offer back protection and requires no charging. Those two features could make the accessory worth the extra $30.

JoyFactory Monet iPad Stylus Review is a post by Josh Smith from Gotta Be Mobile.

Taking notes and drawing on the iPad is better with a stylus, and best with a great stylus.

Personal preference plays a large role in defining the perfect iPad stylus, but the JoyFactory Monet iPad stylus is as close to perfect as I’ve found, and I have half a dozen iPad Styli scattered around my house.

The Monet iPad stylus stands out from the competition in two key areas that elevate it to my go to iPad note-taking tool – length and a sensitive tip.

The Monet Stylus is nearly 7-inches long, almost 2 .5-inches longer than the average iPad stylus. This added length, combined with a great placement of weight combines for a great writing experience on the iPad. Granted, the usefulness still depends on apps, but I found that the added length and proper weight allowed me to better take advantage of the various palm rejection features in popular apps.

Why is it a better fit? Simple. The longer base and weight placement allows users to grip the stylus higher up. This means there is a lower chance of tapping the screen with a palm or errant finger, especially while taking longer notes.

In addition to the longer body, the rubber tip delivers above average performance. Joy Factory claims that the “super-sensitive rubber nib” works at a full 165 degree range, and while I’m not going to break out the protractor to measure angles, I can say it is the best “rubber nib” style stylus I’ve used.

Most iPad Stylus tips lose sensitivity on the edges, resulting in lost strokes. When taking notes on the iPad, this means illegible words and characters and lost time. Again, the performance isn’t perfect, but the Monet iPad stylus helps me take notes faster than most other styli.

The sensitivity of the Monet stylus should interest iPad artists, and is complemented by the shape and slender frame. The extent of my drawing ends at poorly drawn Draw Something doodles, so I can’t proclaim that this stylus will turn users into the digital Monet, but there is potential with the right drawing apps and skill.

I’m still not as fast at taking notes on the iPad as I am on paper, but the Monet iPad stylus allows me to take notes on the iPad faster than my previous favorite stylus, the Kensington Virtuouso iPad Stylus.

The Joy Factory Monet iPad stylus is available for $21.82 at Amazon and available in Charcoal, Green and Pink.

The mamaRoo infant seat hit the market in April, 2010, the month my son was born. I ran across the mamaRoo at a baby boutique when my wife asked me to go buy a Maclaren rocker for him. Instead of bringing home a rocker that didn’t do much except vibrate, I spent the extra cash to get the mamaRoo since it has natural rocking motions, has an integrated sound machine and can play music from any smartphone or MP3 player.

At $199, the mamaRoo is expensive if you compare it to other rockers, but it’s a fair price to pay if it helps a fussy baby go to sleep and helps mom keep her sanity. Our son thoroughly enjoyed sleeping in his mamaRoo until he outgrew it.

The updated mamaRoo addresses a couple of concerns my wife and I had with the original. As our son grew he was able to pull the toy bar out of its socket. The nylon finish didn’t seem all that comfortable, so we’d sometimes stuff a blanket under him before strapping him in. The new mamaRoo now has a locking toy bar and optional plush finish.

The new mamaRoo now has a faster rocking motion, which should help babies fall asleep quickly. 4moms also updated the rocker’s user interface to make it easier to use.

The mamaRoo makes the Maclaren and other rockers look downright archaic. The mamaRoo is like having an extra pair of hands at nap time.

AViiQ Ready Clips give users a new option you can carry like a pen in your pocket or attached to your bag. They can’t tangle because the two ends connect using a sturdy rubber-like ribbon instead of thin wires. Syncing and charging your USB powered devices will is easier with one of these clips.

The AViiQ Ready Clips come in three styles, one for iOS devices, a micro-USB cable, and a mini-USB cable.

I love three things about these AViiQ Ready Clips. They can’t get tangled like a regular cable. You don’t have to wrap them up and tie them off with a rubber band or twist tie, which I usually do with my iPhone, iPad and Kindle Fire USB cables. Also, the Ready Clips come with a pen-style clip that you can use to hold them in your pocket or hang them off a pocket on your computer bag. I suspend them from the strap meant to hold my computer bag to a rolling suitcase.

The AViiQ Ready Clips otherwise work as expected, charging and syncing USB devices. The connectors seem sturdy and they will hold up under the normal wear and tear from sitting in the bottom of your accessory pouch.

I don’t like that you can’t really pick up your device while you connect it to your computer or USB charger using the Ready Clips. The cable’s measure 5.5 inches long, about the length of a pen. The rubber-like ribbon is so stiff its hard to bend so at that short a length you can’t easily pick up your phone as it’s plugged into your computer or USB charger. I often will plug mine into my Mac and want to use it while its charging. You can’t really do that while using the Ready Clip.

If you just plug your device into the computer or USB charger and leave it alone, the AViiQ Ready Clips solve a real problem – no more tangled wires or awkward wrapping of cables and tying them off with rubber bands or twist ties. That’s reason alone to keep them in the accessory pouch of your computer bag.

The AViiQ Ready Clips don’t cost any more than most cables. You can get them directly from AViiQ for $19.99 for two. Add $10 if you want at least one iOS charging cable. At Amazon you get a micro-USB Ready Clip for $12.99, a mini-USB Ready Clip for $12.00 and an iOS Ready Clip for $15.99.

Now you can take your iPhone into the woods with you without giving away your position, unless the phone actually rings. Perfect for hunters and those that just want to look like hunters.

Otterbox has partnered up with Realtree camouflage on a line of Commuter Series cases to offer low-profile protection for the iPhone 4 and 4s. The Commuter series provides great protection from bumps and shocks with a slimmer profile than the Defender Series and the included screen protector keeps the iPhone’s display from scratches. Realtree is the world’s leading camouflage designer who is responsible for thousands of outdoor and lifestyle products using their camouflage patterns, including Otterbox cases.

“The Commuter Series is such a versatile case,” OtterBox Founder and CEO Curt Richardson said. “By combining it with versatile camouflage patterns from Realtree, we’ve struck a perfect balance between aesthetics, functionality and individual personality.”

The Commuter Series color choices are more limited than the Defender Series offerings that launched last fall.

Available Colors:

Max-4 HD camouflage on black polycarbonate/black silicone

AP pink camouflage on gray polycarbonate/gray silicone

Don’t worry, OtterBox also offers rugged Defender Series cases with Realtree camouflage for the iPhone for added protection. You can check out the full lineup on the Otterbox website but the Commuter Series offerings seem to be missing right now. I am only seeing the Defender Series that Otterbox launched back in October 2011 on their website.

Otterbox Defender Series Realtree Choices

The Commuter series is Otterbox’s low profile case that offers protection, but not the extra bulk that the Defender Series provides. I have been using the Otterbox Commuter Series case for my Galaxy Nexus recently and love it.

If you don’t need the stellar protection that the Defender Series of Otterbox cases is known for, the Commuter Series offers protection with a smaller price tag, a lighter and thinner design, and the same quality as you’d expect from Otterbox.

I got my hands on the Otterbox Commuter Series case for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Cases.com and I have used it for a week or so now. So far, it’s done an awesome job protecting my Nexus. If you take the time to watch the video below, I mentioned that I opted to leave the screen protector off, but I recommend it for most users. I personally don’t like screen protectors.

The Otterbox Commuter series doesn’t provide too much additional bulk to the Galaxy Nexus.

The inner rubber shell is equipped with raised buttons that protrude through the hard outer shell that matches up with the device’s buttons to allow for flawless control. I had no issues with the buttons while using this case.

There are no openings at the top of the case (right) and there are 3 cutouts at the bottom (left). The charge/sync port and headphone ports have rubber flaps to prevent dust from getting inside when not in use. The microphone port is open.

The rear of the case has cut outs for the speaker, camera and LED flash, and the another hole that I am not 100% sure why it’s there. My Verizon version and the GSM version have nothing where this opening is.

The opening for the charge/sync cable is has plenty of room for your cable. On the right, you can see that this case provides a slight bevel for the screen which makes a face 1st fall less of an issue.

The Otterbox Commuter Series case for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus is well-built and aside from the phantom cut out, I found no problems with the case. Again, I can’t vouch for the screen protector, but the case itself is solid. The case goes together and comes apart easily too. The only suggestion I have for Otterbox regarding this case is to add some more non-slip surface to the case, the rear cover and sides are somewhat slick.

You can grab this case from Cases.com for only $32. If you want more protection, check out the Defender Series.
