Cheaper Droid RAZR Launches on Verizon

Published

on

With the arrival of the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX at CES 2012, it was only a matter of time before Verizon announced a price drop for the original Droid RAZR. Today, the carrier did just that as the the Droid RAZR’s price, at least the 16GB version, has dropped down to $199 while the 32GB will check in with the more familiar $299 with a new two-year contract.

So that’s available today.

As for the the white and purple models of the Droid RAZR, they will be coming out on January 23rd and they too will be available at the $199 price point.

You might be wondering if there are any differences between the old Droid RAZR and this new 16GB model. Besides the storage space, there is one. It doesn’t come with a microSD card on board.

There is still a microSD card slot, but you’ll just have to pick one up separate from your purchase.

Other than that, this is the same phone that came out back in October.

Before you pull the trigger though, keep this in mind. The Droid RAZR MAXX is supposedly coming out later this month and it’s going to be the exact same phone as the original only it’s a little thicker because it houses an incredibly big battery. Battery life is fairly miserable across the board for 4G LTE smartphones so this is definitely a phone you’ll want to take a look at.

If you’re already sold on the original though (at least make sure you read our review first), you can find it through Verizon right here.
