‘Check Out’ Comes After ‘Check In’

Published

on

Most users will probably have heard of check in services, like Foursquare and Facebook Places, that allow users to broadcast their location and hip lifestyle to friends and the Internet, but a new type of ‘Check Out’ service will allow users to review and recommend locations, businesses, restaurants, and bars to friends and others on the Internet with similar interests.

An app of the same name is out for the iPhone and the service is developed by Bizzy. It appears to be a mash-up in use between Foursquare, Yelp, and Facebook in that Check Out combines your personal interest profiles–like Facebook–along with review recommendations–via Yelp–and location services–as popularized on Foursquare. While the review features may be similar to Yelp, the service is described to be smart and adaptive. It will–or should at least–know if you’re a fan of a select cuisine, or if you’re a vegetarian, to better hone in on places that may be of interest to you. Additionally, when reviewing a locale, users can give a happy face, a neutral expression, or sad face. Users can also write a longer review as well.
