China Clones Netvertible Sliding PC Tablet Form Factor

Published

on

Earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show, the sliding PC concept garnered a lot of attention as the design was implemented on tablets from Samsung and Asus. First popularized on smartphones from HTC and Nokia, the sliding PC tablet concept had been implemented in the past, with a tilting screen, by HTC via the company’s inaugural Windows tablet debut with the HTC Shift, a device that closely resembles the HTC Arrive on Sprint, nee HTC 7 Pro, and sports a large touchscreen on the front that slides up to reveal a keyboard and tilts forward to give a good viewing angle. Now, that form factor is also used in an un-named device made in China with a more affordable price tag.

The Chinese device sports a 10-inch display with a 1024 X 600 resolution and will utilize an Intel Atom processor clocked at a 1.66 GHz along with 1 GB of RAM to power Windows 7. It will have a 160 GB HDD and a modest $224 price tag.

It’s even older than that. Acer TravelMate C200 (C204Tmi), anyone?

I’d actually love to see more slider convertibles on the market, but I can’t do without a Wacom digitizer at all. (Well, maybe N-trig, but then I can’t use my Axiotron Studio Pen.)
