Clash of Clans May Update: New Troops & Spells Detailed

Published

on

Earlier this month a big Clash of Clans update arrived with some important changes, but it didn’t introduce any new content. However, Supercell wasn’t done this month and as we all know another huge Clash update just rolled out full of new features. With that in mind here we want to take a look at all the new upgrades and changes.

The developers at Supercell have been working hard to get rid of cheaters, balance out the game, improve Clan Wars, speed up times to make armies and more, and now they’ve added tons of new content. Like two spells, two troops and even friendly battles.

Over the course of the past week Supercell has been teasing another big Clash of Clans update for May. Sharing sneak peek teasers, releasing videos and more. We know Town Hall 11 players are getting a lot of new additions, but they aren’t the only ones. Below is everything players need to know about the new Clash upgrade that was released this morning, May 24th.

Update: As expected, the huge Clash of Clans update arrived this morning. Players can get it right now and try out the new Miner troop, the Baby Dragon, clone spells and more.

Last week we learned that another large update was in the works and coming soon. Along with it we received a 1-gem boost to earn more currency, which was likely to help players with all the incoming upgrades. At first we learned that Clash of Clans was getting friendly attacks, which means we’ll be able to fight others in our clan.

The Friendly Challenge allows players to open up their village to get attacked from other clan members. It doesn’t waste troops, cost any money, and both the attacker and defender don’t lose anything. Essentially a way to pass the time, have fun, test new attack strategies, and find weak spots in new base designs.

It’s one of many welcomed additions coming over from their new hit game Clash Royale, but that isn’t the only thing we’re getting from Clash Royale. In fact, three of the new upgrades mentioned below are directly from Royale, and we can expect more in the coming months.

Town Hall 11 Changes

We’ll start by mentioning some of the changes coming specifically to Town Hall 11 players, as everything else in our slideshow below will also be available to them as well, considering they’re the highest level you can achieve in Clash of Clans.

The update should arrive soon (but more on that below) and with it TH11 players will get some much needed upgrades to fend off other TH11 players looking to raid their village. Here’s what’s coming.

  • Cannon level 14
  • Lava Hound level 4
  • Balloon level 7

In Town Hall 11, air armies have dwindled in popularity. These new levels should help revitalize high-level air armies while helping to defend against the ground rush.

The Bowler troop released earlier this year will also get a housing reduction to just 6 spaces instead of 8. Allowing us to bring more to battles, or have more variety, he will also be a little stronger. Spring Traps will also get another level, which is level 5. This should give them a bigger radius, spring more troops, and catch more Valkyries now that everyone seems to be attacking with her. The new traps are available to all Town Hall 7 and above players.

However, over the course of the weekend Supercell made 4-5 other extremely big announcements. That’s in the form of two new spells, two new troops we all can use and upgrade, and more coming in the near future. Possibly a higher Giant and other things. For now though, here are the big new upgrades coming in the next Clash of Clans update in May.

The Miner

The Miner

The May Clash Royale update will introduce two new troops that will be available from the regular barracks, and are Elixir troops. Then we also have a new Elixir Spell, and Dark Elixer spell. The most exciting new troop looks to be the Miner.

Coming from the company's hit game Clash Royale, Clash of Clans is getting the Miner. This shovel weilding troop can travel underground past walls, bombs and traps, and pops up to destroy any building in his path. Here's a video of him in action.

The Miner is the first troop that can go underground and doesn't have to deal with traps, bombs or walls, which makes him a big deal. Of course users can't target anything they want, like the Town Hall (similar to Clash Royale) as that would be extremely unfair and there'd be no way to stop him.

Instead, the Miner goes underground (which means defense can't hurt him while traveling) and will popup and begin doing damage with his shovel. Once done he burrows again, moves on and surfaces once more to start doing more damage to the next building. All spells effect the Miner (like healing or Rage) even while he's underground.

Bring a Golem as a distraction, and a few spells to get the Miners going to work, and users will be able to deal severe damage to a base without worrying about big expensive walls. The possibilities are endless, and we can't wait to try out the Miner.
