Coaster Crazy Will Bring Roller Coaster Designing to iOS This Year

Published

on

Fans of virtual roller coaster building games who miss the days of Rollercoaster Tycoon on the PC will get the chance to design their own coasters on their iPhones and iPads later this year.

According to Touch Arcade Frontier, the developer studio behind LostWinds, will bring its new game Coaster Crazy to iOS later this year. The game lets players build and ride virtual roller coasters using a simple touch interface.

Unlike Rollercoaster Tycoon (which Frontier also worked on) Coaster Crazy doesn’t let players build their own theme parks. Instead the game focuses solely on roller coasters and puzzles.

Players need to build roller coasters to fulfill the desires of their riders. Some riders wants fast coasters, while others are looking for lots of loops or hills. It’s the players job to balance these desires in their designs.

The game will ship with 30 unique challenges, and we assume more will come later either through free updates or paid content packs. Players will also have the opportunity to share their designs with friends online and see the coasters their friends created. Players can virtually ride their own or their friends designs from their devices.Coaster Crazy

Coaster Crazy will release sometime later this year before Christmas, which gives us a maximum wait of three months for the game. That sounds like a long wait for a game we wish we could play right now. It’d be nice if it had all the features of the Rollercoaster Tycoon games, but just the roller coaster designing is enough to make us excited.

We also hope the wait is enough time for Frontier to make sure the game supports the 16:9 screen in the Phone 5.
