Destiny Beta Special Matches Start Early: Iron Banner
The Destiny beta is nearing the end, but before it goes off to prepare for the Destiny release Bungie is offering a collection of special matches that challenge players more than a typical Destiny beta multiplayer game in the Crucible. The Iron Banner is back, offering a tougher Destiny beta multiplayer experience where your gear and equipment matters and you can unlock special Iron Banner Gear.

The Destiny beta special matches are already live, so if you aren’t stuck at work you can join in on the Iron Banner play and start unlocking special Destiny beta gear. This is not the same as the special Destiny beta event scheduled for 2PM Pacific 5PM Eastern on Saturday July 27th, which will offer permanent rewards, so you’ll still need to com back to play for keeps.

This morning Bungie announced the Destiny beta is now available without a pre-order. This means anyone with an Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 or PS4 can play the Destiny beta for the last two days.
Iron banner Destiny Beta Details
Here’s the Destiny beta schedule of special Iron Banner events. Each event lasts two hours, and you can only play, unlock and browse your Iron Banner gear during these matches.
When you play the Iron Banner matches you get access to four Destiny beta maps including Rusted Lands, First Light, Shores of Time and Blind Watch. These Destiny beta maps are on Earth, the Moon, Venus and Mars.

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

All of these times are Pacific, which leaves room in many other time zones to play, even if you are stuck at work until 5 PM.
Where to Join a Destiny Beta Iron Banner Match
You’ll need at least a level five character to play these special Iron banner matches. If you don’t have this yet, play some of the missions to level up as fast as you can. You’ll also need the level five character for the special event on Saturday.
Talk to this powerful character to join in on the Destiny beta Iron Banner after you hit level 5.
Once you level up go to the Tower and see Lord Shaxx to unlock the Crucible. If you already have the Crucible you can head straight to Lord Saladin. He is in the Tower opposite of the landing zone. After you meet with him a new Iron Banner playlist opens up.
After you have an invitation you can return to orbit and select the Crucible, then Iron Banner as your playlist.

Destiny Beta Iron Banner Bonuses
You cannot unlock special gear that you keep for the main game, but you can earn reputation, gear and meet challenges to make your time in the Iron Banner playlist more profitable. Bungie shares these key details;
Victory earns you reputation and rank to unlock special Iron Banner gear, and you can only browse or acquire your rewards while the event is live!
Iron Banner challenges are available from the Bounty Tracker to make your exploits in battle even more profitable.
You’ll only be able to use this part of the Destiny beta during the times listed above. The Destiny beta ends sometime Saturday, and Bungie is planning a big match with permanent rewards for 2PM Saturday. They also plan to announce the Destiny beta end time and share key details in a Bungie Weekly Update later today.
