Frozen is now available to download and stream via Apple’s iTunes service. The hit animated film was scheduled for a Tuesday release, but those on the West Coast were able to watch Frozen  a few hours early since Apple and Disney released it at midnight EST. Released in late 2013, Frozen has grossed nearly $1 billion at the box office so far.

Frozen is available to purchase for $19.99 in HD format from iTunes now. The more affordable standard definition isn’t available until  March 18. Apple isn’t currently listing when the movie will be available to rent.

For those who haven’t had the joy of being in a theater with a couple of hundred children singing along with princess Anna, Queen Elsa and friends, Frozen is a film that focuses on the importance of family and being careful about who you trust. It sends a strong to girls that a charming prince won’t solve all of their problems.

While countless families have already purchased Frozen from Apple in order to view it from the comfort of their iPhones, iPads and Apple TVs, those looking for the best value should wait until the film’s Blu-ray Collectors Edition is released on March 18.  The collector’s edition costs just $22.96 and comes with two Blu-ray discs, a DVD copy of the film and a digital copy that can be downloaded via iTunes.

Amazon.com is selling the HD version of Frozen through its Instant Video service starting Tuesday. The standard definition version will be available starting March 18.

Frozen is a wild success by several measures. Disney published several of the movie’s musical segments on YouTube. The company published Let it Go, the films most popular song, in 25 languages on YouTube.  The English version alone has more than 100 million views. The film’s songs are so  popular that Let it Go cracked several charts, including the Billboard 100.

Frozen Download Size

Those looking to take Frozen on the go may have to make room for it if their phones or tablets are near capacity. The iTunes HD version weighs in at a hefty 3.18GB. The  iTunes Extras for Frozen take up an additional 1.32GB of space. Movies like Frozen are the reason why we always recommend buying the highest capacity iPhone or iPad that you can afford. The movie download will eat through one-quarter of a 16GB iPhone’s 12GB of usable capacity.

If you or your young ones just can’t get enough of Frozen you can also download the 59 song soundtrack on iTunes or stream it through Spotify.
