Droid Bionic Jelly Bean Update Roll Out Approaches

Published

on

A short time ago, Motorola tagged the Droid Bionic Android 4.1 Jelly Bean roll out with a Q2 release window. That commitment meant that it planned to roll it out by the end of June. However, some new evidence suggests that the Droid Bionic will get its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update much sooner than that as it appears soak test invites have been sent out ahead of its arrival.

Last year, Motorola announced that the Droid Bionic Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update would be rolling out at some point in the future. Since then, several Motorola smartphones received their upgrade to Android 4.1, but Motorola’s commitment to the Droid Bionic never wavered. In fact, Motorola recently revealed that the Droid Bionic Jelly Bean update would roll out in Q2.

Q2 spans the months of April, May and June, a window that left open the possibility of a Droid Bionic Jelly Bean update rolling out as late as June. However, from the looks of things, it could roll out sooner rather than later.

Droid-Life confirmed that invites to the Droid Bionic Android 4.1 Jelly Bean soak test have been sent out and that typically means that a roll out isn’t too far away. Motorola just needs to make sure that it’s bug free and if it is, it should get Verizon’s approval for roll out. Once it’s approved, the update typically rolls out to owners shortly after.

The Droid Bionic Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update will roll out soon.

This means that the Droid Bionic Android 4.1 update is likely not too far off in the distance as it’s unusual to see a software update hung up after getting this far. A specific date is not yet known but it appears that it could certainly roll out at some point during the month of April.

That said, Droid Bionic owners should have reason to be excited as they look to be the next Motorola device owners in line for an upgrade. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will of course bring a number of big time features to the Droid Bionic including Google Now, a new smoother UI, improved camera application, better widgets and multitasking and more.
