Droid Incredible 4G LTE Release Date Appears Close

Published

on

It looks like Verizon might finally be on the verge of launching the Droid Incredible 4G LTE.

Droid-Life is reporting that marketing materials for the device landed in some Verizon retail stores over the weekend which seems to point to a release date being close.

Verizon announced the device back in May, but has still yet to give it an official release date.

The carrier unveiled the Droid Incredible 4G LTE at CTIA in New Orleans and said that the phone would be headed to the carrier’s 4G LTE network in the coming weeks.

The coming weeks have turned into just over a month, leaving some consumers wondering when the release date announcement might be made.

If the marketing materials are any indication, we should see an announcement in regards to the Droid Incredible 4G LTE’s launch soon.

We do have a rumored release date though.

Verizon is thought to be launching the Droid Incredible 4G LTE on June 21st. That date is merely a rumor at this point but as of right now that’s all we have.

It’s thought that Verizon was originally going to release the phone in May but that the HTC/Apple patent dispute that held many HTC devices up at the U.S. border may have altered that.

Verizon has not said whether this is the case.

The Droid Incredible 4G LTE will feature a dual core processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 4.0.

The Incredible 4G LTE has a 8MP rear facing camera and a front facing camera. Beats Audio works throughout all the audio on the device, providing a boost to volume.

It also has a 4-inch display with qHD 960 x 540 resolution. The small size sets the Incredible 4G LTE apart from the larger Android phones coming to market on many carriers.

I don’t think this phone has a fair chance of success.
It has subpar specs compared to the previously released Rezound.
Yeah, it has a faster S4, but when compared to the competition on the same carrier (Droid Razr HD, GS3) it hardly seems like a fair fight.
Had VZW put enough hype into this phone as they do the Moto Droids or the GS3, it might have succeeded.

I wanted this phone! I want a pocketable phone, not a minitab. But based on how much “love” this Inc4G is seeing now… it worries me that it’ll have little to no support when it comes to future OS upgrades.

FWIW, I was in a Staples in Maryland today, and they had cases for the Incredible 4G already out on the display floor.

I’m very excited for this phone. I’ve been waiting for a 4″ LTE phone sans keyboard since my upgrade came due in February. I was looking at the razr and it is just massive; not very pocket friendly nor easily used with small hands. And I prefer HTC phones to Moto any day. I’ve never had any experience with Samsung but the GS3 is just to massive for my taste as well.

Yep, count me as one of those who is underimpressed by the latest specs of the DInc 4G LTE. When the specs first were rumored three months ago, it made it seem that this phone would be a flagship phone for Verizon, much like the original DInc was in 2010. It seems that this phone is a far cry from what it should/could have been. Still, I prefer a smaller screen and will probably end up buying it.

July 5th? Insert expletives directed at Verizon executives. Looks like I’ll be buying the Rezound.

I too have been concerned with the over all size of the newer phones. I’ve been looking at the Rezound but can’t get comfortable with such a large phone. With the sale on Rezound ending on the 4th, I’m wondering if the July 5th intro for DInc2 is the reason. Regardless, the advertising for the DInc2 has been far less then stellar.
