Droid RAZR & Droid RAZR MAXX Owners Still Waiting for ICS Bug Fix Update

Published

on

The pressure is mounting on Verizon to push out a Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX Ice Cream Sandwich bug fix update, software that hopefully will squash the numerous bugs that users have been reporting since the beginning of July.

Over the past month and a half, we’ve received countless emails and comments from Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX owners which address the numerous bugs that arrived on board Ice Cream Sandwich when it arrived on the very last day of the month of June.

In the past week or so, the complaints have started to increase in volume.

The Droid RAZR badly needs a bug fix update.

Owners have been complaining about an assortment of issues that make the experience on both the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX a frustrating one.

We have heard from Droid RAZR MAXX owners who can’t access their email properly, owners who have an extremely sluggish user interface and extremely slow responses when it comes to pushing buttons and swiping, and owners who of course are seeing abnormal battery drain.

Those are just the tip of the iceberg too.

So it’s no surprise that customers are waiting for some kind of update from either Motorola or Verizon as far as a release date for an ICS bug fix update is concerned.

The last we heard, Verizon is shooting for a roll out around Labor Day in September. This is a target date and nothing is set in stone so at this point, nothing is for sure.

Originally, we had thought that the update would be rolling out in mid-August but that time table dissipated after Verizon realized how many bugs were actually on board Ice Cream Sandwich.

We’ve been told that Verizon is hoping to squash at least 90% of the bugs with this update. Obviously, owners of both devices hope that the update fixes 100% of the issues but that isn’t likely to happen.

At this point, circle the beginning of September on the calendar for the bug fix update and hope that it comes much sooner than that because it’s clear that the experiences on the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX is far from perfect right now.

Been waiting so long why not just update to JB and let us be the guinea pigs again as far as finding the bugs? Did everything support told me to do, factory reset etc. Could not see running my DRMaxx in safe mode as a “solution”.

I was sooooo looking forward to ICS after it being promised months prior and while I like it, the bugs are beyond frustrating. I fell in love with the Android system and selection of phones, but I am very close to going to Apple next time ONLY because It’s one system to update and that’s it. I hate having no date for upgrades and having to wonder if my phone will be one updated. This is just ridiculous. Is anyone really caring? FRUSTRATING!!!!

This is so reduces. Carriers are the most lying and ludicrous people on three planet and we have no choice nut tip now down to their sluggish demands. It’s a monopoly that we are bound top by contacts and no where in three contact does it say “we will Berms to your needs also.”

I want my **** battery usage fixed and memory management fixed. Home screen redra ingredients every hour gets very annoying. On GB if I didn’t use my phone pretty much at all, 12 hours later I’d still have 95% battery left. Now it’s usually 30%. Personally never gonna get a moto again…

I am using a Motorola Razr Maxx running ICS and it is the worst OS I have experienced since the release of Android. My device worked great before ICS update. I not only have terrible battery life with a 3300 MHz battery but it over heats. Signal strength is terrible. I cannot believe they changed the notification of missed calls from red to gray. They made the icon for Exchange emails the same color as the POP email. The notification for Exchange email is the same color as POP email, Gray. Can it get any more boring? It was nice to be able to tell the difference as to what email has mail as well as tell the difference between the icons without having to double check because they look exactly the same. I think the worst part for me though is the fact to place a call sometimes can take over 60 seconds. When I dial a phone number and hit send, it just sits there and will not call out. I have had to power cycle my device once 50 percent of the time and sometime twice before the device will place a call. I have even tried to use voice dialing and I have the same results. This is completely unacceptable. I also cannot go back to my previous OS. I am stuck with ICS no matter how bad it performs or doesn’t perform. Android has taken three steps backswords with ICS. Then Google has the nerve to say, be patient. Motorola wants me to reset my phone back to factory settings and set it all up again. They don’t seem to care that it takes me over six hours to do this because none of my apps are backed up like in iTunes so I have to write down what I have and re download them. I have be anti-Apple but the iPhone 5 4G LTE cannot get here soon enough. Screw Android!

Ha, I have been told by Verizon that all of the countless issues I am having with my phone “is not their problem” twice!!! My call was forwarded to Motorola who told me that they weren’t going to work on fixing the issues untill the same fuc*ed ics update was pushed on to droid 4 users!! I just love being a fuc*in Verizon wireless customer!!! : x

Moto just lost me as a customer. Hate to say it, but I am converting to the iPhone 5 after this debacle. The lack of customer support around this issue is completely unacceptable.

I blame this on Google. Google should of tested the software before putting it out. I have went through so many phones with different issues. You buy a new phone then the update comes out and it doesn’t work on alll phones. That is telling me that all the phones aren’t built the same BAD QUALITY CONTROL. Google or Motorola should replace the phones with new ones not re-fur, When you take a phone apart and replace parts or just look around the phine is never the same as new.

Thanks for your updates -this is the best place to hear what’s going on with this. This situation is INSANE. How can a company roll out an “improvement” that reduces the effectiveness of our phones by 80-90%, and then take MORE THAN TWO MONTHS to come out with a “90%” fix? The really sad thing is, I loved my Razr Maxx before the upgrade – they shoudl have just let us switch back to Gingerbread as soon as they realized that they’d completely screwed us over, instead of dicking around for weeks. F you, Moto/VZW – from a previously very satisfied customer.

I have been working with Motorola since July 16th on the Corporate email bug issue after the ICS update. I was told a week ago that they now have the fix but it is unknown when they will make it available. I even offered to be a beta tester to no avail.Almost 2 months without Corporate email.

Now that explains the why I. Am been getting horrible signal lately like a month ago…. Among other issues. But that one makes upset because the reason why I decided to go with VZ AND THIS PHONE was the lte and battery life… Now my battery life has suffer a significant decreased.. Wish could go back to GB!! :(

Logitech bluetooth headphones pause/play feature does not work when listening to Pandora or Slacker. Wife has the same phone with the same problem. Pause/play feature only works with “My Music” app. Tried with other brands of bluetooth headphones with the same results. Used to work flawlessly before the ics update. Contacted Motorola and they had me do a factory reset and it did not help. Last thing they told me was to send my phone in for warranty work. WTF? I am having second thoughts about ever buying a Motorola phone again if this bug and many other bugs are not fixed soon!

:Sigh: Its now mid September I am so tired of this phone! Which is a real shame because before ICS I could not say enough great things about it! & I also LOVED the lapdock which after its COMPLETE Makeover I never even touch now… can I just go back to June before the update!

here are the problems ive had with droid razr max since june 20th approx. Ghost dialing, like 13x in a row. browzer not loading. phone not ringing. email not loading. browzer not loading…oh, and BROWZER NOT LOADING. timing after because pages dont load. applications not loading. then when the ICS loaded it was worse. Notifications CONTINUALLY APPEARING on top line left and will not go away. following notifications appear 5-12x a day, no matter what tier 2 tech support reps i talk to in order to fix it–nothing matters. i refuse to get new phone as it won’t be new. it’ll be refurb. and if they sucked when they started with all these bugs, then why the heck would i want another one thats just as bad as mine. Notifications popping up: 1. select input method. doesn’t matter what 10 different tech support reps do. it WILL NOT STOP popping up on my phone–about 12x a day. 2. Background data restrictions. touch to remove. so what. they never “remove.” and…i only talk with tier 2 tech support. everyone else is an idiot. they couldn’t even help clarify the ‘smart actions,’ had never used them and didn’t know anything about them, as was told to me by about 10 Verizon reps. Last month i stayed in a verison store 1 1/2 hrs with the moto rep and even HE COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHY PHONE DOES THESE THINGS.
personally i think we need a massive law suit, a suit wherby we can PICK OUT ANYPHONE WE WANT FOR THE VALUE OF WHAT WE PAID FOR IT. FOR FREE. IF consumers can get banks to stop doing what they were doing, then why can’t verizon customers do the same thing.
