Droid RAZR Ice Cream Sandwich Release Date Remains a Mystery

A previous rumor pegged June 12th as the Motorola Droid RAZR Ice Cream Sandwich release date. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like today is going to be the day that Android 4.0 rolls out to Motorola Droid RAZR owners.

In response to a tweet inquiring about the release on Twitter, first reported by Droid-Life, Verizon delivered the bad news.

This means that the carrier still does not yet have a release date for the Motorola Droid RAZR Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Update: The Droid RAZR Ice Cream Sandwich update appears to be close.

While this doesn’t mean that the update won’t be rolling out soon, it very well could, the prospects of the software reaching owners today appears to be unlikely. Throw in the fact that we haven’t heard anything about a soak test for the software, something that tends to happen when an update is close, and it’s apparent that today isn’t the day.

That being said, Motorola has promised the update to Droid RAZR owners by the end of Q2, which translates to the end of the June.

So that leaves the manufacturer and Verizon a little over half of a month to roll out the software to Droid RAZR owners in the United States.

Motorola has also promised the update to Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX owners by the end of Q2 as well and we imagine that the updates will roll out close to each other.

Unfortunately, we haven’t heard anything in regards to the Droid RAZR MAXX Ice Cream Sandwich update either.

So, hang in there Droid RAZR owners, hopefully we’ll hear something more concrete soon.
