Dual Screen Laptops for the Navy Seals

Published

on

Looks like the Navy Seals can’t settle for a laptop with just one screen. According to this article from Switched, they will be using a dual screen laptop (both at 15 inches) from gScreen Corp, an Alaskan startup. It looks like you can pre-order one beginning February 25 through the on-line store on Amazon.com. They do weigh in at 7.7 lbs though.

I’ll bet the Navy elephants get some BIG A** notebooks! No seriously, anyone know the point of this? Why would they need 30 inches of screen? For more pictures? I don’t really get it. How much is one of these things taxpayers will be fronting the bill for? And, they’re buying from gScreen – an Alaskan startup? Why would our government buy from a startup computer company when there are already proven computers that have great specs and are built to last (Toughbook series for instance)? I’m completely lost – help?
