Duros 8404 Tablet: Rugged, Atom, Sunlight LCD

Published

on

picture-32Rugged Tablet PCs have been around for a while, but the Intel Atom processor seems to be opening the door to a new breed.   Hothardware reports that the Duros 8404 rugged Tablet has been given the netbook’s famed Intel Atom processor (as an option rather than a 1.0 GHz Celeron M) and an 8.4″ sunlight readable LCD screen. The LED screen’s brightness is 1,1000 nits with a 120-degree viewing angle.   No details on price are available, but don’t expect this puppy to be in the netbook range.   The 8404 can also be equiped with Wi-FI, Bluetooth, GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, and GPS.   It is clear this Tablet has been designed for the outdoor mobile warrior.   The 8404 is available in nine bright color options.   This chart shows everything you’d ever want to know about the 8404 or check out the official Duros 8404 site for more Tablet goodness.

The tablet in the picture looks to have already taken some abuse…

Anyway, wouldn’t the Atom option would be slower then the Celeron? They are both running at 1.0GHz.
