eBay Black Friday Deals Will Come Down to a Vote

Published

Halloween just ended, and everyone has already turned their attention to Black Friday and holiday shopping for this Christmas season. For the first time ever, eBay is doing something completely different. This year they’ll let shoppers decide what Black Friday deals will be offered, by opening the deals to a vote.

eBay is getting ready for the holiday season by changing how they’ll do Black Friday, Cyber Monday, lightning deals for the entire week of Thanksgiving, and even more for Christmas shopping. It’s shaping up to be their biggest shopping event of all times.

Part of eBay’s new “Wish Bigger” campaign the company will be hosting deals just before Thanksgiving, and continuing to offer excellent deals and discounts through Black Friday, all the way until January 1st, 2016. Here’s what you need to know.

Black-friday

Black Friday is always one of the biggest events of the year for shoppers, but eBay wants to make it even bigger. By “skipping the chaos – but not the savings – of Black Friday” eBay’s deals will be crowd-sourced and decided by letting users vote for what they want to buy, and the ones with the most votes will become this years eBay Black Friday deals and beyond.

This will all start on Thanksgiving Day (November 26th), with a new website ebay-wish-bigger.com, that will offer shoppers the ability to vote to “break open and unlock a series of incredible deals.” Beginning at 4:00 p.m. EST until 10 p.m. EST, competing deals will be featured on multiple parts of the site. The one that gets the most votes in an hour will be available to buyers in limited quantities. Which means you’ll have to vote, wait, then hurry and buy.

It’s an odd approach, but will let us choose what deals will be available, rather than have to settle with what’s being offered and try to find what we want, or head to Walmart instead. No one wants to stand in lines for hours, deal with all the madness, and get ran over. Instead, take part in eBay’s Wish Bigger Campaign.

That isn’t all either. eBay hopes to make this one of the best shopping experiences ever by offering “deep discounts” on tons of other exciting and popular items from before Thanksgiving, until Cyber Monday.

Popular or hot items at ebay.com/deals will go live every hour, on the hour, until Cyber Monday. Everything from electronics by the biggest names around like Samsung or Apple, luggage, fashion or clothing and more. This is a small teaser released by eBay today, and we’ll be learning more as the Black Friday madness nears.

  • Up to 30% off on top name-brand electronics such as Apple, Samsung and GoPro
  • Up to 65% off on premium Fashion brands such as Tumi, Hunter Boots, Uggs, Vera Bradley and Ray Bans
  • Up to 50% off name-brand items for the home such as Keurig and KitchenAid
  • Up 50% off on Samsonite luggage

Sounds pretty impressive, right? Allowing shoppers to get nearly 30% off on Apple, Samsung, GoPro and other popular electronics. Huge savings on cloths or home goods, and so much more that we’ll have to wait until Thanksgiving week to learn all the details.

Again, these deeply discounted items will go on sale every hour, on the hour starting on Thanksgiving Day, and ending on Cyber Monday. That means we’ll have days and days to find some of the best deals on new, used, or hard to find items unlike ever before.

eBay’s wide array of options will allow buyers to find the perfect gift for anyone and everyone, at huge discounts, and even let us choose what will be put on sale. It all sounds very promising, but also somewhat confusing. It will be another crazy year for Black Friday shopping, and eBay will be one of many places you won’t want to miss. More details can be found here, and we’ll be posting as many Black Friday deals as possible all month long.
