evasi0n iOS 6.1 Jailbreak Updated to Fix Weather App Issues

Published

on

The evasi0n iOS 6.1 jailbreak tool is now available as an updated version which fixes issues that affected some evasi0n users.

Evasi0n 1.1 is available to download for users who still need to perform the iOS 6.1 jailbreak, but there is no need for most users who already used evasi0n to re-jailbreak. The same changes made to evasi0n 1.1 are now available as an update on Cydia which users can directly apply to their jailbroken device.

To get the fix on a device that already has Cydia installed, open Cydia, Tap on Changes at the bottom of the screen and then tap Upgrade.

New users looking to jailbreak can follow our How to Jailbreak iOS 6.1 with evasi0n to see a step-by-step guide that is compatible with the new version of evasi0n.

How to evasi0n iOS 6.1 Jailbreak - iPhone 5 - 1

A new version of evasi0n is out.

This update should fix the broken weather app which stopped working for some users after the jailbreak. According to Planetbeing, the weather app issues are tied to users who installed AppSync, an Installulous alternative, or some other bad tweak. The fix may not work with AppSync or another bad tweak installed, and for some users it may not work even after uninstalling the offending tweak. AppSync stopped the fix from working, but it is not the root of the problem.

Users with a broken weather app even after the update may need to backup the iPhone and perform a full restore in iTunes and re-jailbreak with evasi0n 1.1 to get past the bugs.

It is not clear if these fixes will stop the long boot bug which can cause the iPhone or iPad to take a very long time to reboot. Users who experience this issue, a boot that takes minutes, can safely reboot with a hard reboot. Hold the power button and the home button until the device reboots. This may need to be done more than once if the second boot is also a long boot.

The evasi0n 1.1 update does not make the app compatible with the iOS 6.1.1 beta which Apple shared to developers earlier this week. The iOS 6.1.1 update does not close the jailbreak exploits, but user should not update when it is available until after the evad3rs give na all clear.
