There is finally an Exploding Kittens app that will let you play the crazy card game on iPhone at a much cheaper price than buying the physical card game from Amazon.
Exploding Kittens started as a physical card game on KickStarter, where it was the most backed project in history and the most funded game in history.
Users can now buy Exploding Kittens on Amazon for $20 with a regular and a NSFW edition of the game available.
Now, the Exploding Kittens app is available on the iPhone, and with any luck we will see an Exploding Kittens Android release date coming later this year.
Here’s what you need to know about the Exploding Kittens app.
Exploding Kittens iPhone Release
The initial Exploding Kittens app release is only for iOS. This is for the iPhone only, so there is no iPad support yet.
The Exploding Kittens iPhone release date arrived on Thursday January 21st on the iTunes App Store. Gamers can buy Exploding Kittens for iPhone for $2, which is a steal compared to the physical game.
What is Exploding Kittens
Exploding Kittens is a card game that is basically Russian Roulette in card form. You draw from a pile of cards and if you pick the Exploding Kitten card you explode and you are out of the game.
That is unless you have a defuse card that allows you to avoid exploding and put the Exploding Kitten back into the deck. The video below explains how you play.
The game includes action cards that impact the turn and order, and then you draw a card. It should take about two minutes to learn the game, and then about 15 minutes to play a game.
In the Exploding Kittens app you get new cards, sound effects and play with 10 to 16 cards depending on the number of players in the game.
Play With Friends on iPhone
You can play Exploding Kittens with friends in the same room, all using your iPhones. The game supports up to five players, and they will need their own iPhone and their own copy of the app.
Exploding Kittens In App Purchases
There are additional options to buy things inside the Exploding Kittens app with in app purchases.
When you purchase Exploding Kitten in app purchases you can unlock new decks, avatars, custom sounds and more.
We see decks for $1.99 and $2.99 in screenshots of the game. If you make purchases you can then restore them if you need to switch phones or uninstall the game. Currently the app store shows in app purchases are free.
Perhaps this will also be a way to purchase a NSFW Exploding Kittens app that includes adult themed cards and illustrations in the future.
Exploding Kittens Android Release
Currently there are no plans for an Exploding Kittens Android release date. The creators of the game are focused on iPhone, which is a common trait for new games that are likely arriving on a budget.
For the time being you shouldn’t waste time looking for an Exploding Kittens apk to sideload the game, since no version exists.
