Fake MacBook Air is No MacBook Nor Air

Chinese clone-maker E-Stary has received a lot of attention today for its 11.6-inch MacBook Air clone, though the design and device leaves a lot to be desired. Labelled the E-Stary HY118, the clone is essentially a glorified netbook running on Windows 7 stuffed into a chubby silver body and slapped with an Apple logo.

The HY118 features an Intel Atom processor more suited to netbooks rather than the more equipped MacBook Air’s ULV Core 2 Duo processor from Intel, 1 GB of RAM rather than the 2 GB on the original, and a 160 GB HDD rather than the solid state storage options configured on the Air. However, the display, which measures 1366 X 768, matches the Air’s display, though it is encased in a somewhat tackier bezel. In terms of graphics, the Intel GMA 950 or 3150 options pale compared to the Air’s NVIDIA’s discrete GPU, though the clone still supports 2 USB ports, WiFi, a 2200 mAh battery, and throws in an ethernet port for good measure, a feature that could be added on the original via a USB adapter. Moreover, at 2.97 pounds, the clone lacks the thinness and “air” quality lightness of Apple’s unibody design.

The HY118 is currently available in China for approximately $260, which isn’t bad for a netbook, and quite cheaper than the Air’s entry level price of $1000, though you’d get more laptop performance than netbook performance with Apple’s price. If you want to fool people, the Apple logo on the back will cost a few bucks more when you acquire your China-made laptop.

I hate clone-maker, I hate The HY118. Macbook Air is great in function as tablet(iPad). https://www.ifunia.com/ipad-column/understanding-apple-magical-ipad.html
