Romance a Fallout 4 Companion

Romance a Fallout 4 Companion

You can't strike up a romance with Dogmeat or Codsworth but you can strike up a romance with some of the other Fallout 4 companions you meet along the way. I'm not going to outline all of them here because we don't want to spoil the game for you.

What I will do though is explain how this works and why you absolutely should romance your character if you have the option.

To start a romance, you'll need to figure out how the companion reacts to your responses. For instance, you'll gain points with some characters if you're generous or if you're peaceful. Others will love it if you're selfish or violent. You can figure out what they like using trial and error or you can find a guide.

The game will tell you when you do something they like. Be sure to remember what you did and repeat it. If they like your responses and actions, they're affinity will grow. Once it starts to grow, they'll open up to you with their background and you'll be able to flirt with them. And once their affinity is maxed out, you'll be able to enter a romantic relationship.

Once you are in a relationship with your companion, you unlock their unique perk, a bonus that will improve their worth out in the wasteland. One perk grants you +25 melee damage when you drop below 20% health.

You'll also unlock the Lover's Embrace bonus which grants you 15% XP when you sleep and your companion is nearby.
