Fixes for The Master Chief Collection Problems Arrive

Published

on

343 Industries and Microsoft hasn’t yet managed to get out one single patch that addresses all of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection problems still being reported by users. That isn’t stopping the developer from trying. Earlier today Microsoft began rolling out another content update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

343 Industries, the developer in charge of managing and updating Halo: The Master Chief Collection revealed todays update in a post on Halo Waypoint. As detailed in the post, this latest fix for The Master Chief Collection problems is almost completely dedicated to addressing the terrible multiplayer experience.

This latest Halo: The Master Chief Collection update includes fixes for what 343 Industries is calling “improved matchmaking search success rates.” It means the developer is hoping that more users are able to find others to play multiplayer matches. That’s something that Halo: The Master Chief Collection had a problem with when it first arrived. It’s still a problem, today. Even when users were able to find a match in multiplayer sometimes they’d get uneven numbers for the game type they were trying to play. 343 Industries says this should be fixed too.

There are some non-specific improvements for other Halo: The Master Chief Collection problems included in this update too. The remastered version of Halo 2 included with the game is getting some fixes to its network connectivity. 343 Industries says to expect better multiplayer games. Joining a party should work better and Halo 4 has a fix for the bug that allowed users to equip the same weapons in their load out in both of their two slots. Statistics tracking has been upgraded for all four games included in the title. Going forward Halo 3 and Halo 4 users shouldn’t be penalized for destroying their own empty warthogs and other vehicles.

Getting this new fix for the Halo: Master Chief Collection problems you’re still having won’t be hard. Every Xbox One connected to Xbox Live should download the fix themselves. Of course, that depends on whether the Xbox One is connected to Xbox Live and has low-power mode enabled. If not, users are prompted to download any pending updates the next time they open Halo: The Master Chief Collection from their pins or the My Games and Apps area.

Today’s fix comes roughly a day after Microsoft began giving owners of Halo: The Master Chief Collection a free month of Xbox Live for suffering through the game’s problems at launch.

In addition to that, users can expect some other upgrades down the road like a free multiplayer map and a remastered version of Halo 3: ODST. The free Halo 3: ODST add-on is big considering most thought Microsoft didn’t have plans to upgrade it for Xbox One users. Halo 3: ODST wasn’t included in The Master Chief Collection because series protagonist Master Chief Petty Officer John 117 wasn’t in that game. Instead, Halo 3: ODST focused on the problems faced by a team of Orbital Drop Shock Troopers with basic armor. It was more story drive, and the atmosphere moodier. Reportedly, Halo: Master Chief Collection buyers can expect their free Halo 3: ODST download sometime in the spring.

That Microsoft fixes the issues plaguing Halo: The Master Chief Collection is absolutely crucial. Failing to do so could have dire consequences for the Halo franchise in general. Microsoft expects to launch the next big Halo game later this year. Halo 5: Guardians will focus on the Master Chief and Agent Locke from the Halo: Nightfall video series. Halo 5: Guardians will be exclusive to the Xbox One, just like the Master Chief Collection.

Fixes would imply I was able to play it with my friends, but I still can’t…that’s not fixed to me. (although if it’s ‘fixed’ for others, I hope they enjoy it).
