Flappy Bird Making a Comeback, but “Not Soon”

Published

on

Flappy Bird was one of the most popular mobile games ever when it reached popularity back in late January before the creator and developer of the game shut it down. It was an addicting and frustrating game to say the least, which is mostly why Dong Nguyen (the creator of Flappy Bird) took it offline.

However, Nguyen has confirmed that he’s bringing the game back at some point in the future, but “not soon.” Furthermore, when the game does come back online, Nguyen will make the game available for Android as well, through Google Play.

Don’t get too excited, though, as Nguyen says that the remake “will not be the original game, but a better one.” At least he says it’ll be better, but for those looking forward to the classic Flappy Bird, you might be disappointed.

As for when Nguyen will bring back Flappy Bird, there’s no inkling of an expected timeline, as he doesn’t follow a plan and will simply “release it when it is done,” so it could be tomorrow, or it could be next year.

While the original game has been unavailable for well over a month, that doesn’t mean that gamers still can’t play it. App stores have been filling up with Flappy Bird clones, and game developers are even making their own versions for the web browser.

Flappy Bird was originally released last year in May, but it didn’t reach full potential until earlier this year when it was reported that Nguyen was making $50,000 per day just from ad revenue. Apparently, though, Nguyen wasn’t in it for the money, and he shut the game down anyway, despite the massive amounts of cash he was piling up.

Luckily, there are still plenty of clones that you can play to pass the time until the real Flappy Bird is back in app stores, just don’t go too crazy.
