Well under a non server os (also is  a hardware thing though too but thats a whole post in its self) such as vista chances of accessing the full 4gig is kinda slim I would expect it not to.

To definitely access all four gig you would need to go to a 64bit version.

And on the rare chance you do access it all there should be any slowdown it should increase in speed as you can hold more but for things such as hibernate it may increase as there is more memory having to be written to disk.

Thanks for the reply JSleemanII,

Still no luck. I've tried resetting all the setting back to default. And even tried calibrating as suggested. The only thing I haven't tried is pressing the blue button to restore the OS.

I've never used the touch screen, but I believe it won't be difficult to use.  My concern is the screen - How about getting it stained or somehow scratched? or is it stain and scratch-proof? Some of us are engineers and we handle tools and maybe greasy subsatnces now and then. Ouch! I've been using vista for a year now in both my Laptop X61 Tablet and my desktop 32 and 64 bits respectively.

 

Annoyances

-          Hibernation on the laptop (it’s kind of working now) but it takes a pretty long time. Another weird thing is if I hibernate let’s say over the week meaning I don’t use my computer for more than 2 days. It will take forever to return from the hibernation even after the desktop is presented it take like 3 – 4 mins before I can really start doing anything.

-          Copying large amount of files. I decided to move my music this past weekend and it was horrible. I have closed to 51000 between files and folders it account for some 195 GB. The worst thing is that it won’t give me any error it would just “finish” but when you check only a portion of the files are there. Needless to say that’s the worse outcome since I have to go back and recheck what got copied and what didn’t. However there is a solution for this use ROBOCOPY which is part of vista. The name means ROBUST COPY and it does just that, great little tool!. Now why is that the copy in vista don’t just invoke this tool?

-          I cannot right click the network connection icon in the taskbar and go to properties. I have to go to network sharing center then connection manager blah blah.

-          DreamScene what a waste of everything … resources, Money for Microsoft (I gues they pay a team to work on that), I want to say time of whomever is part of that team but he/she is getting paid for that.

But there is something I do like

-          I love that you can open almost anything from the start button by just writing its name That’s some useful idea.

 Has anyone tried this -> http://www.ocmodshop.com/ocmodshop.aspx?a=989 to access 4gig of ram under Vista 32?

 If so do you know if it does indeed work and if there's any slow-down as suggested??
