Hey Everyone.

Does anyone know how to get the screen to rotate so that you are holding the laptop with the battery in the right hand in portrait mode?

It would be nice for lefties to be able to grab onto the extended battery for more support. I've dug through the registry and could not find anything that would let it rotate the opposite way. I also tried running FjRotBtn.exe via command line to see if there were any param's no suck luck.

If anyone knows of a separate utility that I can use to replace it or know of a way to get it to rotate the opposite way I would really appreciate it if you could post details here.

    Thanks!
    Eddie

Search the forums for "rotate" -- Rob had a post on this a while back. Last week I found the 270 degree option buried in some menu or another but I cannot find it again tonight. It is there.

    Hi gang,
Have been reading this forum since owning an LS800 and it has been very helpful for my new P1610 (used with GPS nav system for flying). Wanted to give back to the GBM forum with a suggestion related to portrait orientation where the pen and power are on top rather than on bottom (better for lefties and small cockpits)

I loaded the updated Intel 945GM driver suggested by the other thread and was able to get the additional rotation options, but only through the graphic options pages. It was a pain to dig for the selection for 90 degree rotation each time. Found the solution using the programmable panel keys.

Here's what you do (assumes you have the updated driver):

--Right-click in desktop and open Graphic Properties

--Select Hot Keys and UNCHECK "Enable Hot Keys"

    --Exit Graphic Properties

--Open Tablet and Pen Settings by pressing Fn button on panel TWICE

--Go to Tablet Buttons tab. Select "All orientations" in drop-down menu

--Choose one of the 3 buttons (I picked B, since it's next to the rotate button)

--Select "Change" and "Press a key or key combination" from dropdown menu

--Click in keys window and press: CTL+ALT+Left

    --Select OK

    --Select OK

--Return to Graphic Properties window and enable Hot Keys again

The trick is disabling the hotkeys long enough to program the panel buttons.

Now if you press Fn + B on tablet panel, screen rotates to 90 degrees!!

I also set the Display sequence (in Tablet and Pen Settings) to only go
to Landscape and None. With this setup, the "Rotate" button always
gives me Landscape and ALT+Panel-B always gives me 90 degree
    orientation.

Until Fujistu updates the panel buttons, this will assist with rotation options. This may not be rocket science, but will be helpful for the many new users (and lefties like me).
    Cheers!

Where did you get the new drivers & what is the driver revision? My machine was delivered with Ver. 6.14.10xxx installed.

As suggested on the other forum, I did a search for "rotate" and found this information. The driver version is 6.14.10.4704

The new driver is located here on the Intel site:

    http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-022034.htm

Select the 945GM Express Driver Graphics Driver (select the Win XP
Tablet version from the dropdown menu on the following page). It's an
executable file that installs the driver right on top of the existing
    drivers.

I don't think Fujitsu has this driver in their update list.
    Good luck!

Hi, new to the forum and the P1610, but loving both so far.

I've been playing around with the screen rotation for lefties as I want to hold the P1610 by the extended battery in my right hand to make inking that much easier with my left, but wasn't happy at having to remap any buttons. So I've figured out a way of making the P1610 auto rotate into the Secondary Protrait mode when you put it into slate mode. Here goes.

    1. Go to Control Panel > Tablet and Pen Settings, Display tab.

    2. Click on the Sequence "Change" button and set Option 1 to Secondary Portrait and Option 2 to Primaray Landscape.

    3. Now that you've setup to rotation sequence, goto Program Files\Fujitsu\Utils where you will find fjRotate.exe andfjRotBtn.exe. fjRotate is called when you put the P1610 inslate mode and fjRotBtn is called when you press the rotate button (:->). Renamce fjRotate.exe to fjRotate1.exe and make a copy fjRotBtn.exerenaming to copy to fjRotate.exe.

All done, now when you put to P1610 in slate mode the screen orientation is correct for lefties without having to press any buttons. Hope this helps.

Having tested the previous post, I found a few minor issues (wrong orientation of resume from standby), so have investigated further and found an easier method that keeps the original FjRotate.exe app in place.

    1. Run Regedit and goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Fujitsu\Display Controls\Display Profiles.

    2. Click on \Docked Protrait Profile\Monitor #1 and change the value of orientation to 1.

    3. Repeat step 2 for \Undocked Protrait Profile\Monitor #1.

That's it. Should rotate ok and be correct on resume from standby/switch on.
