Hi guys,

I've been playing around with Windows 7 RC on my 2730p since last week and so far everything is working perfectly with one exception - the graphics drivers. The drivers that installed by default and the upgraded drivers that were released via Windows Update today don't seem to support rotation when I flip the screen into tablet mode. Additionally, CTL+ALT+arrow keys won't rotate the screen either.

I've tried installing the Vista drivers and they sort of worked (the colours on the screen look a bit washed out) but I'd prefer to use the newer drivers if possible to take advantage of the improvements in the WDDM 1.1 spec.

Have any of you got this working and, if so, what drivers are you using?

Cheers, Jake.

I have the 2710p and to make the screen rotation work with W7 you need to install the HP Quicklaunch buttons driver. I would not be surprised if the same is true with the 2730p. You will probably need to install it in the Vista Compatible mode.
BTW, you may want to unistall the vista display drivers and let windows 7 update to the newer drivers. They work a lot better than the vista ones.
Good luck.

Thanks for your help guys. I have now got rotation working but had to do the following:

- uninstall the latest version (March 2009) of the Quick Launch app. This version worked with all the buttons but didn't rotate.
- install the old version (November 2008) of the Quick Launch app.
- Windows reports that the old version is incompatible so you have to click Run Program and tick the option to not be warned again.

Rotation now seems to work perfectly

I had the same experience and am now running the 'old' quick launch application version jakem recommended month ago in a thread concerning broken x64 support.

I've one issue left (again, x64): The brightness control is out of function. Though I can switch the ambient light sensor on and off, I can't adjust the screen brightness at all. Using the appropiate function keys brings on the brightness OSD, but the place where the horizontal bar resides normaly is empty. The system starts at full brightness when on AC power and (way to) dim when on battery and that's it.

The screen brightness isn't adjustable at all with the most recent three versions of the quick launch utility.

Any hints?

Hi guys!

I have the same prob with the quick launch buttons.
The rotation button doesn't work. The brightness control also doesn't work(like by landmark).
Iinstalled all versions ofthequick start buttons application. 40139 like in the report, but nothing works.

My OS: Windows 7 RC1 German 64Bit
My Laptop: HP 2730p 4GB Ram

Maybe someone has a solution?

This thread is slightly old but I thought I'd just let everyone know where I'm up to with the QuickLaunch buttons and screen brightness controls.

HP updated the BIOS for the 2730p at the end of July so I just installed that today and the screen brightness controls finally work. I then tried downloading and installing the latest version of the QuickLaunch application and everything seems to work properly. The only issue is that screen rotation is a bit sluggish when you rotate the screen but at least it works.

The latest drivers, BIOS, etc. can be downloaded from here.

BTW, I'm running Windows 7 RTM (64-bit) now.

I hope someone finds this useful.
