I'm a little concerned with an issue I have and wondered if anyone else notices it. When I go into tablet mode, as I pull down to click it into place, the bottom of the screen surround, near the hinge, pulls away from the screen, creating a gap.

It looks likethe hinge is too tight and is pulling on the surround. Anyone know how to adjust the strength of the hinge? I loosend a couple of the screws covered by the rubber gromets around the hinge and that helped a little as the surround was also being bowed slightly by the screws being over tightened.

There looks like there is a third screw hole in the middle but that little cover looks a bitch to get off.Edited by: Toekiller

I don't see this problem on the x60 or x61... and haven't been in there to tell you how to loosen it.

Put some WD40 on it... JUST KIDDING!!

Lots of people are reporting glue separation problems at the bottom of their LCD screens. I see it too, but it hasn't bothered me enough to call for service.

Oh well thats a relief. If lots of people are suffering with shoddy workmanship, its o.k!

Anyway I've tried and succeeded a little in improving it. Both the rubber covered screws were loosened as the were bowing the surround as I mentioned. I've since pried off the centre cover with a pin and tightened that screw. It improved the gap by a good 70% when fully down but it still pulls away getting there as illustrated in my picture.

I had witnessed a bezel replacement on my X60.

Just for information, around the screen, under the bezel, it is "double side glue tape"

Hope it help any thinking about this gap problem

Did the bezel replacement fix the problem? In that case, I might call for support. I have on-site warranty, so hopefully that means they can fix it for me without me having to send it in.

I would definitely have them come and fix your machine (or at least check it out). Too much money to spend. - Tom

The origin of the replacement was because of the "sadly famous" SXGA+ screen problem. Eventhough, i did see a gap starting to grow between the screen and the bezel but not as much as the pictures.

Since the screw just above the hinge was tied (i did check), and the gap still was present,

Since the bezel and the screen were kept tied only by a double sided glue tape,

I don't think that there is any thing the technician can do but change the whole bezel, that is to say the glue tape (it is link to the bezel).

the gap started to appear after the screen got hot for a couple of hours in tablet mode, causingthe glue getting melt (i think).

I think the only way one can do is to field the gap with some silicone ... no more idea... sorry

Being a bit of a tinkerer, and due the the fact it bugged the crap out of me I decided to see if I could improve things further by taking the back off and putting something behind the screen so it wouldn't push in or pull apart as much during use.

I got as far as removing all the screws. If I say nothing moved after I'd removed all the screws that should give you an idea of how successful I was.

Yes, I couldn't get the back of the screen off. Gawd knows how you do that without breaking something

Anyone know if there is a knack?

    Update....

You know that glue that magazines use to stick cd's etc to them? Well I found some glue spots of the same stuff. Cut them to size and placed 3 inside the gap.

Things arn't perfect but again an improvement. The gap in Tablet mode is almost gone.
