Not sure if anyone has this challenge. I have a 60T SXGA+ Screen running XP Tablet edition of windows.

Every so often while in battery mode the screen simply goes black while the computer is still running. I have not found anykey combinations to get the sfcren to turn back on.

When I go into standby and restart the screen functions perfectly. Am I starting to loose this screen or is this simply a setting that I do not know about?

My power scheme is currently on Thinkpad default.

I had that same problem early on with an X60T. I don't remember exactly what I did to fix it but I think it may have been a bios update or display driver update. It looks like they posted a biosupdate last month so you may want to make sure you're up to date with that. Also looks like a new display driver was posted in march, which may help.

Now and then I also notice that the screen will do a very quick "blink" as if it was going to short out. This lasts for about half a second and then continues as if nothing happened.

So imaybethis is a video driver issue!? Maybe the adage is right: ONLY update your computer when you have problems. If things are gong ok do NOT update. Once you do, you might encounter new problems!

I have exactly the same issue with Vista.
Screen goes black ... no key combination can bring it back.
Putting the tablet to sleep and waking it up brings the screen black.
It happens while I am doing stuff (e.g. typing) so I do not believe it to be the power settings.
Disabled screensaver and turning off the display anyhow and still have the issue.
This is a brand new clean install of Vista Ultimate.
Previously did not have the issue.

I've been having a similar issue with a Samsung Q1U and Vista.

All settings are set to "Never" when dealing with putting the screen to sleep while on Battery.

Yesterday, while poking around, I realized that the "Backlight" is what is shutting off.

I discovered a control panel called "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for mobile". There is a Power setting there as well, which appears to be a separate setting while on battery. I unchecked the setting "Intel Display Power Saving Technology", and haven't seen a repeat yet, though I won't guarantee that is the issue.

This is my first Vista device, so my knowledge is quite limited.

Yes, I tried adjusting the Intel Graphics Panel as indicated above, and this did NOT solve my problem. I am operating XP Tablet edition and have made all the Lenovo updates to divers. My fear isthis will only get worse.

I don't know if this will work for you guys, but while troubleshooting a couple problems I've been having (random volume muting -- even when playing music, and my display would SHRINK and then go back to normal size randomly and often) I was told to go into msconfig and turn off all of the services EXCEPT the Microsoft ones and all of the extra Startup programs. I did this and not only did BOTH problems go away, but the system is running better than it ever has. There was a lot of junk I didn't need -- stuff installed by programs and services -- and one of them or a combination were the culprit. I'd initially intended to go through the long process of turning them back on, one by one, until the problem recurred and I could find the culprit, but I don't miss any of those services (and don't even know what most of them did) and haven't bothered. The only things I did turn back on were all the Lenovo services, because one of them (I don't know which) controls auto-rotate, which I did miss. I turned all the Lenovo services back on and all is right in the world again...Vista now even goes to sleep so consistently that I no longer worry about it...I just close the lid, slide my X60 back in its case, and I'm off.

I too have recently experienced the EXACT same problem running windows Vista Business. I have an Lenovo X60T and only recently has this been an issue.

My screen 'flickers' a few times.... Other times it just goes off. Only way to return is to put to standby and resume.

Initially thought it was a battery problem since it only occurred on battery power, however, starting to think its a software problem due to the timing off all the complaints.

I have a second battery and am not running on that to see if the problem continues, if it does, its probably a driver problem.

What was recently updated? I ran a system update recently and don't recall what has changed since May.
