I don't think I've seen this video on vista tablet features on the forum:

It's a good video detailing pen taps, panning, pen flicks, handwriting, mobility settings, and even wireless network projection, which is something I haven't seen yet.Edited by: Antimatter

I'd like to find out more about that network projection feature. What hardware does it work with? How does it perform? Does anyone have any experience with it?

How do you get the connecting external display part to work? I've never seen that happen. This seems ideal for docking.

I found more information on the "New Display Detected" dialog box at:
    http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...8fc431033.mspx
However, this dialog box does not appear automatically, and following the manual procedure of Windows Mobility Center | External Display | Connect display doesn't work either.

Is there some trick to getting this to work? After my recent Vista re-install I fiddled around with getting my monitor to be recognized before installing Intel's video drivers, without success. Now, with Intel's drivers installed, I can manually choose a display profile each time the computer is docked, but it would be good to get the automatic recognition advertised as part of Vista.

Is there some way of getting New Display Detected to work? Does this work with some hardware profiles and not others? I've included more details in my clean install notes at http://mobilepcwiki.com/mpc/index.php?title=Motion/LS800/Windows_Vista_Clean_Install_Notes

I've seen it a couple of times in the past... I don't know how you trigger it to happen... It's usually right after a clean install

When I did my recent clean install on my LS800 I did not install the Intel video drivers initially so as to see if Vista alone handled the external monitor better than Vista with the Intel video drivers. Unfortunately, no "New Display Detected" dialog ever appeared, and working directly with display settings did not work properly either.

Clearly things are supposed to work better and the "New Display Detected" dialog box is supposed to appear. I don't know why the combination of a Motion LS800 and a Gateway FPD2275W 22 inch monitor with native 1680 x 10560 resolution doesn't work. Two reasons I can imagine for this combination not working are:
    1. The monitor and the LS800 (which has 800 x 600 resolution) have different aspect ratios, and this could mess things up.
    2. The monitor may lack Extended Display Identification Data (EDID), which may be necessary for proper Vista recognition.

I don't know much about video displays. It would be great to get help from more knowledgeable people and get external display recognition working properly. Good docking and undocking is crucial for a small slate, and external display recognition is a crucial part of seamless docking.

For Tablets to go mainstream this is a crucial capability to get working properly.
