So I was having an argument with someone about Vista handwriting recognition. I said for my purposes I've found it to be near 99% accurate, and he said that was a load of bull; handwriting recognition is in it's infancy, just like speech recognition, and nothing that accurate exists on the market today.
So to put him in his place I decided to put the recognition engine to the test. I took a laptop that is not a tablet (so it has no training) andwrote a message with the track pad. Also, I decided not to correct any mistakes (since I was in the car when I wrote this, any bump would cause my finger to glide across the trackpad unintentionally.)
So, here are the results:
If you'll notice, given horrible track pad handwriting with absolutely zero training, the engine managed to recognize everything perfectly. I'm particularly impressed with how it recognized "uninformed" and "technologies". As I was writing thoseI thought to myself "there's no way that's going to come out right" but to my astonishment and complete joy they did.
