Fujitsu Announces Updated P1630 and U820 Tablet PCs

image Offering some minor upgrades to their ultra-portable tablet pcs, Fujitsu has announced the P1630 and U820 Tablet PCs.

New Improved performance and battery life from the latest Intel(R) Centrino(R) 2 processor technology with dual-core Intel(R) Core(R) 2 Duo SU9300 Ultra Low Voltage Processor and Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5300 (802.11a/b/g/draft-n). New Up to 6.15 hours(4) with the high-capacity battery option — an hour longer than its predecessor. New Optional wireless broadband (coming in the first quarter of 2009). New Webcam with 1.3 mega-pixels (640 x480) resolution.

    So to outfit this with such frivolous options as:
    Bluetooth
    6 Cell Battery
    2 Gig RAM (this is Vista – come on!)

    Fujitsu is insulting with a $3k Pricetag
    I’d call it a decent offering at $1500 (a few hundred premium over say a dvd-sporting Kohjinsha SX3)

    Get real – this is 2005 pricingg

    Can anyone comment on the keyboard quality? I find Fujitsu computers to be generally excellent, but their keyboards are horrible. Non-tactile, cramped, badly laid out and not firm or crisp. While these are tablets, the keyboard is still of top importance to me.

    @davidm: Since they are not in anyone’s hands yet, I think anyone can know for sure about the keyboard. But if Fujitsu has always had bad keyboards – I would not be looking for it to improve here.
