Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Roll Out Continues in U.S.

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update roll out continues in the United States as regional carrier U.S. Cellular quietly has made the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update available for its version of the Samsung’s former big-screen flagship.

Last month, Samsung began rolling out the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to users outside of the United States. Samsung and U.S. based carriers typically don’t confirm release dates so Galaxy Note 2 users in the United States were forced to rely on a leaked document from Best Buy that proposed release dates for several carriers in late November.

December could bring the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update release in some regions, with Galaxy Note 3 features.

Those release dates, however, did not prove fruitful as carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon all missed their supposed Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 release dates. The situation was further complicated by the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 roll out in Canada, Canada typically sees software roll out right around the time that the U.S. sees it, and a listing on Samsung’s website that shows the AT&T Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean being on board. The AT&T Galaxy Note 2 update is not out.

One carrier that did not appear on the leaked document was U.S. Cellular, the nation’s fifth largest carrier and a carrier that was the only one to confirm Android 4.3 updates for its devices. U.S. Cellular announced in October that it would be rolling out Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 updates in the coming weeks and the carrier has seemingly delivered on that promise.

The U.S. Cellular Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update becomes the third and final Android 4.3 update to roll out, something that has been confirmed by a listing on the carrier’s website and thru Samsung. U.S. Cellular doesn’t go into detail about the update but Samsung does, noting several of the features that will be on board once the update is installed.

  • Galaxy Gear Compatibility
  • Premium Suite Features
  • PEN. UP
  • Group Play 2.5
  • Multi-Window (Note 3 Version)
  • Camera – Sound & Shot
  • Group Messaging
  • Samsung Link Preload
  • New Easy Mode
  • Samsung Apps

We assume that this change log will span across carriers and that all Galaxy Note 2 models will receive these features when their updates arrive. That isn’t confirmed, but is likely.

This roll out means that there are still three remaining. The AT&T Galaxy Note 2 Android 4,3 update, the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update and the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update. None of them have release dates though Samsung continues to suggest that the AT&T Galaxy Note 2 has Android 4.3 Jelly Bean on board. Samsung lists the T-Mobile and Verizon Galaxy Note 2 models as running Android 4.1 which is accurate.

I installed the update on a Rogers note 2 sgh-1317m. I had to go back to original recovery and Rom before I could update to 4.3 ota. Now I am wishing I had not done this but installed the update with root installed because with Samsung knox security, I cant install root yet. I hope once the At&t 4.3 is released so will a root method. Does anyone know how to root 4.3 on sgh1317 yet???

I really don’t understand any fact online that why Samsung and carrier companies were delaying update rollout for their phones. Galaxy note 2 users are still waiting for update to 4.3 and it is not yet been rollout on all the carriers in US. Samsung or US carrier companies never commit the date for rollout, where Apple is always committed. I believe apple has more professional peoples working with them and they have better planning. So far what I understand from the rumor going online every day from last six month is nobody knows actual reason that why Samsung is always poor to rolling out updates and customer satisfaction. Samsung and US carrier companies always try to blame each other, if they keep doing same thing for another couple of years then I doubt about the position Samsung has in market down the lane. I am using Samsung from last 3 years but now I feel this is the time to move on to any other brand.
Very poor service by Samsung and carrier companies in US. I think selling the product is not just good enough. Using Note 2 right now.

I know what you are saying but all Android companies suck at updating. HTC history is much worst than Samsung because they only update their flagship device. Sony doesn’t even update or hardly ever. Motorola seems to be coming around, probably because Google owns them now, but very small selection of phones and their specs are behind. LG is just getting back to where they were in 2009. We will find out soon how good at updates they are. The bottom line is if you want timely updates then get a Nexus, or learn to do the custom Rom thing because when an update is made to Android, it will take a very minimum of 3 months to update a certain phone. Let’s see who the first company to release 4.4 KIT KAT. It’s looking like Motorola, but only time will see. If you are into custom roms, Samsung is definitely the way to go. Way more selection of custom roms and their much easier to hack. I already have tried 3 different custom 4.4 roms on my Note 2. So really why wait for the manufacturer and carriers to release it, when in my experience custom roms are much faster and stable. When you are in charge , nothing comes close to Android

I put a custom rom on the phone. First you have to root your phone. Then install a custom recovery like twrp. Then find the custom Rom you would like to use. I have an At&t note 2 and I know there’s a version of CyanogenMod, Omni Rom, and AOKP. I found CyanogenMod to be the best 4.4. If your Note is an At&t version or any Note 2 from Canada I will send you a link to my Dropbox to download it. You must make sure you match the right rom with the right phone. Even all note 2s have different firmware so you could brick your phone flashing say verison rom on an At&t phone.

Your point is absolutely right, when it’s there, you get it. But the way you want it makes your life miserable.

To make it better, faster, and stronger. Technology gets better and better, so we get more features. Why not update your phone to the newest software? That’s why the people at Google work so hard to bring us the very best os. The difference between 2008 android and 2013 android is night and day

You all missed the point, note 2 works great now without update, maybe better with it. 5 years ago you didn’t have note 2, and 5 years later you will not have it either. LOL
