Galaxy Note 2 & Galaxy S3 Will Likely Skip Android 4.2 for Android 4.3
While Samsung still hasn’t officially canned the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean updates, it’s becoming increasingly likely that both devices will skip Android 4.2 updates in favor of Google’s latest Android update, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
In the past few weeks, we’ve seen a ton of back and forth in regards to the missing Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean updates. Earlier this year, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 update leaked though recent rumors suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Galaxy Note 3 will both skip Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for Android 4.3.
Read: Samsung’s Android 4.3, Android 4.2 Update Situation Takes a Twist.
It seemed a little bit outlandish at the time but it now appears that it may have been dead-on. Recently, we reported that Australian carrier Telstra confirmed that Samsung had pulled the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2 update in favor of something newer, likely Android 4.3, and more recently we’ve seen Samsung roll out Android 4.2 updates to lesser devices, something that just hasn’t happened in the past.
Typically, Samsung gets major Android updates out to its flagship devices first and then moves to upgrade its devices that are not as adopted by consumers. In the case of Android 4.2, we’ve seen it roll out to the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus, a confusing update given that the Galaxy S2 Android 4.2 update was rumored to be cancelled, and now, SamMobile says that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 in France is receiving Android 4.2.2.
What this means is that the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 have both been beaten to Android 4.2. And while it may just be because Samsung needs additional time to prep Android 4.2, it’s more likely that the company simply shifted, as Telstra said, to Android 4.3. Thus far, we haven’t seen anything emerge in regards to the Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 or Android 4.3 updates, but the fact that it hasn’t seen Android 4.2 yet is a sign that Samsung has likely moved on.
Samsung has yet to confirm Android 4.3 updates for any of its devices though the company recently said that it will be talking about upgrades sometime in the future.

My Google Nexus 7 did an automatic upgrade last night. Went right to 4.3. I’m waiting for my Samsung Galaxy s3 to do the same, but alas, it hasn’t. I’m with T Mobile

I think it was the gs3 and the note 2 that brought samsung to the top. And now it seems like they take there time on updating these phones.and know us gs3 and note 2 owners have had a enough of this waiting game. So samsung do the right thing and give us 4.3 now.

Who ever thought that samsung would be following htc on the 4.3 update. And us gs3 owners have been waiting and waiting on 4.2.2 so now it’s 4.3 and the waiting game continues for us that have the gs3 so thanks samsung for making us wait this long while htc is taking care of there customers.

Thats not exactly true. For example, the HTC One S and the Samsung Galaxy S3 came out within three or four months of each other. From what we know, Samsung is at least working on an update. HTC already announced that they were no longer supporting the HTC One S with updates. HTC hasn’t been so good with updating phones.

I guess u can say samsung has been working on a update but it keeps being delayed over and over and has of right now they have some very upset customers that will not buy there phones anymore. Do to all of the delays because the gs4 didn’t sell has they thought so they just forgot about us gs3 owners. You don’t do that too your customers and think the will keep buying the samsung brand.

It’s disappointing that Samsung doesn’t keep its older devices up to date. My note 2 is great but I’ll look carefully at the competition when I come to upgrade. Apple products aren’t as good at present but their user support can’t be faulted.
