Claimed Galaxy Note 2 Photo Shows Massive Display

Published

on

New photos claiming to show the Galaxy Note 2 surfaced this morning, adding to the larger display rumors for the next version of Samsung’s popular Galaxy Note.

KnowYourCell posts a photo it claims is of the Galaxy Note 2, which shows a white Galaxy Note 2 device with a larger display, thinner bezels and a Galaxy S III-like home button.

The source claims the display measures 5.5-inches, but doesn’t share details about the screen technology.

Galaxy Note 2 Photo

This may be the Galaxy Note 2.

All signs point to a larger 5.5-inch display using Samsung’s latest display technology. The original Galaxy Note uses a 5.3-inch display. The new Galaxy Note 2 may feature flexible display technology. While the Galaxy Note 2 would not be flexible, this tech would help Samsung put a larger battery in the  Note 2 without adding bulk.

The Galaxy Note 2 photo looks similar to the Galaxy Note 2 render that surfaced earlier this week, but it’s not identical. Tho photo shows boxier corners and a silver trim that appears to come up to the upper edge of the device.

Both of theses leaks borrow from the recent Samsung design language with features similar to the Galaxy S III and the new Galaxy Note 10.1 which goes on sale today.

Galaxy Note 2 Release Date & Rumors

There is no leaked Samsung Galaxy Note 2 release date, but Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Note 2 on August 29th at an event ahead of the IFA show in Berlin. We anticipate a Galaxy Note 2 release date in late 2012.

While we expect that Samsung will show off the Galaxy Note 2 at this event, the company may keep the Galaxy Note 2 U.S. release date a secret. When the Galaxy S III launched in the U.S., Samsung didn’t announce specific dates.

The Galaxy Note 2 Specs are starting to take shape through various rumors and information. We expect a quad-core Exynos processor, possibly with a 1.6GHz clock speed. Rumors point to 1.5GB or 2GB of RAM, an increase from 1GB on the original Galaxy Note. Expect 4G LTE connectivity on the Galaxy Note 2.

Galaxy Note 2 Launch Date

Samsung will announce the Galaxy note 2 at the IFA show in Berlin later this month.

Samsung is likely to upgrade the Galaxy Note 2 camera, hopefully with some of the features found on the Galaxy S III.

The Galaxy Note 2 will definitely include the S-Pen, a stylus accessory that allows users to take screenshots, draw and take notes on the Galaxy Note. Here’s a look at the S-Pen.

The S-Pen pairs with special apps on the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 10.1, which we should also see on the Note 2. The Galaxy Note 2 may launch with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, though we are holding out hope that Samsung is able to ship with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on board. Android 4.1 is faster and smoother than 4.1, and it includes Google Now, a personal assistant app that ties into Google.

The Galaxy Note 2 is almost certainly headed to AT&T in the U.S. T-Mobile is less likely to see the Note 2 at launch thanks to the recent release of the original Galaxy Note. A Verizon Galaxy Note 2 is a longshot as the carrier is rumored to bring a 5-inch or larger HTC device to market, but it is a possibility if demand remains high. Sprint was rumored to carry the original Note, but it never arrived, something that could change this time around.
