New Galaxy Note 3 & Galaxy Note 2 KitKat Update Details Emerge

Published

New Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat details and new Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat details have emerged and they offer insight into the upcoming release dates for different Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 2 variants that are still awaiting their bump from up from the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.

Six months ago, Samsung started pushing out its Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. The update, which started with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, arrived to replace last year’s Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update and did so with performance enhancements and some minor tweaks aimed at improving the overall experience on board Samsung’s top devices.

In the past six months, we’ve seen the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update land for big names like the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 and we’ve also seen it land for older devices like the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. While we’ve seen a number of Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates push out, these Samsung devices are still in the midst of a Android 4.4.2 KitKat push. And while some updates remain out of sight, others have come to the forefront in recent days.

French carrier SFR announced plans to push out its Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on July 14th. While the update isn’t Android 4.4.3 KitKat or Android 4.4.4 KitKat, the latter being the newest update to Android 4.4, it’s going to bring some big improvements to owners who are still clinging to the Galaxy Note 2.

SFR isn’t alone. Australian carrier Telstra recently approved its Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update and it plans to push the update out on July 14th as well.

These updates will follow several recent updates including those for the Galaxy Note 3 on Vodafone Australia and the Galaxy Note 3 on fellow Australian carrier Optus, both of which rolled out the update after weeks of testing.

Unfortunately, the news isn’t good for everyone. Telstra says that its Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update release has been delayed thanks to Samsung and that the update’s testing submission date is now up in the air. That could mean a number of things including a lengthy delay for one of the carrier’s most sought after Android upgrades.

While Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat details continue to flow, we still haven’t seen many carriers commit to Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates down the road. While Vodafone Australia has confirmed an update for the future, these other carriers simply haven’t announced any plans for the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

The update, which is available in the United States in Canada, simply has not seen an international push similar to the ones for the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 2, and Galaxy S4. The delays have sparked questions about whether Samsung could instead push out Android 4.4.3 KitKat or Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but those updates remain unconfirmed for Samsung Galaxy devices.

Android 4.4.3 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat are both bug fix updates aimed at alleviating Android 4.4.2 KitKat problems. Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy S3 owners have been complaining about a variety of Android 4.4.2 KitKat issues and it’s possible that the company could issue a new update to tackle these problems. Of course, that remains unconfirmed.

Samsung had been rumored to be working on Android 4.4.3 KitKat prior to the arrival of Android 4.4.4 KitKat update with upgrades rumored for the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4-LTE. Rumors pegged the Galaxy S5 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for June and the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.3 KitKat update for July. It’s not clear how the Android 4.4.4 KitKat might have affected those plans.

What is clear is that Samsung is still very much committed to Android 4.4.2 KitKat despite the presence of these brand two new Android 4.4 KitKat updates.

I went to T-Mobile’s website and got referred to Samsung. I did an online chat with a Samsung rep and they apologized for how long it was taking the said they were working on getting the updates out. We would get a notification sent to our phone when the update for the SGH-T999 S3 was ready for download.

I let my T-Mobile note 3 update. It screwed a lot of stuff up! Like the fonts. I used to be able to double tap the screen on web pages, and it would fit to screen, not anymore. It also took away air jump on webpages! Uhg!
