Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update All but Confirmed

Published

on

Thanks to its age, credible rumors and now a full on leak, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is all but confirmed for arrival though a Galaxy Note 3 Lollipop release date remains in the shadows as Samsung continues to prep Google’s latest Android upgrade for arrival.

In early 2014, Samsung started rolling out its Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. The first update landed for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which, at the time, was one of the company’s flagship smartphones. Samsung’s roll out took place a few months after Google pushed out Android 4.4 KitKat for its Nexus devices and right around the time that other Android manufacturers started making moves of their own.

It’s now November and Samsung’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Android 4.4.4 KitKat deployments are still going strong. In fact, we’ve see numerous Android 4.4 KitKat details emerge in recent weeks for top devices like the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. While Samsung remains focused on Android 4.4, it’s clear that the company will be making a shift in the near future.

Android 5.0 Lollipop details have been surfacing at a fairly steady rate despite Samsung’s silence. Today, a fresh new Android 5.0 leak helps to all but confirm the arrival of a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update, an update that will at some point take the place of Google’s aging Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.

SamMobile, a site that’s leaked both the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 Android 5.0 updates ahead of their release, has leaked the Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 Lollipop update ahead of its release and ahead of Samsung’s announcement. As expected, the update is similar to the Android 5.0 Lollipop update on the Galaxy S4. These two devices arrived in the same year and thus, share features in common.

In addition to the Android 5.0 upgrades, the Galaxy Note 3 Lollipop release will apparently come with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4’s upgraded Multi-Window View feature. This is a key multitasking function and it’s one that will greatly benefit the Galaxy Note 3 and its users around the world.

It’s still not clear when the update will arrive though, with the Galaxy S4 Android 5.0 Lollipop update rumored for 2015, there’s a good chance that the Galaxy Note 3 Lollipop update will follow suit. Samsung still hasn’t confirmed anything for Galaxy smartphone and tablet users which means that features and a release date for Galaxy Note 3 users remain wide open.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 Android 5.0 update isn’t the only update that’s all but confirmed ahead of release. The Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update leaked several times and it’s expected to arrive in November or December. Software release dates are heavily dependent on internal testing which means that software release dates can change at any time.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.0 Lollipop is also rumored for November or December though it, unlike the others, has yet to leak out. The Galaxy S4 Android 5.0 Lollipop update is also all but confirmed for arrival though again, it’s not expected to make its debut until sometime next year after the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 Lollipop release dates.

Samsung’s Android 5.0 Lollipop release will likely extend to other Galaxy smartphone and tablet users as well though the company remains mum about its plans for Google’s new operating system.

Google’s Android 5.0 Lollipop update is currently rolling out to several devices including the Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 10, and Nexus 7. It’s also rolling out for the Moto X and Moto G, Motorola’s new flagships that arrived earlier this year.

Android 5.0 Lollipop is also confirmed for a number of other devices including smartphones from HTC, LG, Motorola, and Sony. Specific release dates for most Android smartphones and tablets remain out of reach though we should see details emerge as we get closer to release.

I agree. I hate the update. I can’t watch anything or hear anything. I might as well have an ipad

Ditto about Lollipop. Not only do several apps either not run, run very slowly, or crash frequently, but even Chrome crashes. Until last week I had a perfectly fine Nexus 7; now I’ve got a a worthless piece of junk. Oh how happy I’d be if I could go back to Jelly Bean. Is there a way to do that?

Nexus 7 now almost unusable, FB crash, screen locks, slow charge, quick discharge and what everyone else said; ditto! Thank God my Galaxy Nexus is too old to have gotten the “update.” :/ Maybe Apple isn’t so bad after all.

Is there a way of undoing this and go back to the old system? Battery draining by the minute.
