Galaxy Note 3 vs. HTC One max Photos Give Best Look Yet

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and HTC One max are poised to go head-to-head later on this year and new photos have surfaced depicting the two giants next to each other before their upcoming release dates in the United States.

Earlier this month, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 3, its successor to the popular Galaxy Note 2 smartphone that arrived in late October and November of last year, after a launch in August. The device touts a number of significant upgrades including improved multitasking, new S Pen software, a better and larger display, faster processor, upgraded camera, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and several carrier options in the United States.

Surprisingly, carriers were quick to offer information in regards to the Galaxy Note 3 release date and we now know that AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and Verizon will be releasing the device in October. AT&T will kick things off on October 1st.

This year though, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will face some stiff competition, particularly from a device called the HTC One max, a large screen version of the HTC One that arrived in April.

Unlike the Galaxy Note 3, the HTC One max is still unofficial and rumors point to a launch date sometime in the fourth quarter, date unknown. Ahead of their arrival, the Galaxy Note 3 and HTC One max are getting sized up, thanks to photos that have emerged courtesy of Weibo.

Yesterday, we saw some photos emerge showcasing the HTC One max next to the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Note 2. However, those photos aren’t nearly as clear as the photos discovered lurking today by SIMOnly.

The HTC One max is clearly bigger than the Galaxy Note 3.

The new photos depict the HTC One max and Galaxy Note 3 side-by-side, large screen next to large screen. The photos also show just how big the HTC One max is compared to the Galaxy Note 3, the latter of which utilizes a 5.7-inch display. Rumors suggest that the HTC One max will carry a 5.9-inch 1080p display.

The photos also show off the backs of the Galaxy Note 3 and HTC One max, showing how the faux leather back of the Galaxy Note 3 looks compared to the back of the HTC One max which seems to be in possession of that rumored fingerprint reader.

These photos provide buyers with a clear look at just how the HTC One max, at least the model in China, will compare to the Galaxy Note 3. It’s not clear if the model headed to China will be the same one that is rumored to be coming to the U.S with Sprint and Verizon both rumored to be playing host to the large screened juggernaut.

This pretty much makes up my mind that i will be waiting for the One max, been eligible for my Sprint upgrade & wanted Note3, but after seeing this, screen +triband+cam+procsr+all metal, etc., I have everything Samsung but this may be where i sway, One max just seems too be the best phone ever made. I’m just going crazy because Sprint will not announce anything about either phone, I’m sooooo over it!

Agreed. I feel the same way. except the HTC battery is not replaceable. That should not be a deal killer for me, but it just keeps nagging at me. And Sprint…..come on already. Why all the secrets?

I am so stumped. Pre-ordered the Note 3 for VZW but I had been waiting for the One Max for months. I had a One for about a week but returned it to wait. The cam is NOT as good as you would want, but the Zoe album slideshow generator is so cool. I’m figuring another app will figure that out one day though. The One Max is now rumored to NOT be all metal…and the Note 3 has that cool leather-feeling back.

      Which direction are you leaning?

I might be the minority, but I like the way the note 3 looks more then the all metal htc one. I have the note 2 and anything much bigger would be awkward in my pocket. My friend has the the htc one and I much prefer my note 2. To me it is the greatest phone ever made. The only thing is I hope they make stereo front speakers on the note 4 like on the ativ 500t tablet as I will be skipping the note 3 because I am still on contract.

Oh my GOD – that is massively huuuge compared to the Note 3 – wait… Wait, it’s barely 0.2 inches in display size greater and some added bezel material larger? Not exactly “huge” in comparison then now is it. I’d recken it’s just bigger enough to be a pain in the ass to pocket, over anyplace the Note 3 fits in snugly. The 6.5 inch display boasting Sony Xperia Z Ultra… Now THATS a huge phone. The front-facing speakers of the HTC is the only design nod I wish Samsung had included on the latest Note, but hardly a dealbreaker for me. I find the numerous useful features the S-pen introduces along with the processing power and battery life of the Note 3 too tempting to resist picking one up later this year. But hey, different strokes for different folks.

People that complain about the size of the phone mustn’t have carried the portable phone box with you when the the first ever mobile phone was released .

The note 3 should be better. Stylus with air command. Being a graphic designer well you know. Leather back for a nice grip and comfort. Removable back for more batteries and extra storage. Dont forget about the watch as an add on. 4k video record i hope it will have this. The size of the note 3 is barely breaking the barrier into almost being a tablet so to me the HTC might be a bit big for the pocket. If it is to big maybe you can wear it around your neck. I am interested to see what it can do against the note 3.
