13 Galaxy Note 4 Release Details You Need to Know

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date is now confirmed for the United States and elsewhere which means that it’s now time to take a deep dive into the key details that prospective buyers need to know about the Galaxy Note 4 release date.

All the way back on September 3rd, Samsung took the stage in Berlin, Germany and announced a number of new products including its new Gear S watch, the new Gear VR virtual reality headset, a new Galaxy Note Edge with a curved display, and of course, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the oft-rumored replacement for the Galaxy Note 3.

On stage, Samsung outlined all of the Galaxy Note 4 specs including its 5.7-inch Quad HD display, its brand new 16MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, its new S Pen, its Android 4.4.4 KitKat software that’s backed by TouchWiz, its new design that comes with both plastic and metal materials, and a whole lot more. At the time, Samsung confirmed the Galaxy Note 4 release for October though it did not provide specifics.

For a couple of weeks, Samsung and its carrier partners remained silent, even as the Galaxy Note 4 release date made progress behind the scenes. Last week, the fifth and final U.S. bound Galaxy Note 4 model passed through the FCC and we had a sneaking suspicion that an announcement for the United States was going to be close. And last week, as if on cue, Samsung and its partners went live with a ton of information for the United States.

We also saw a number of other Galaxy Note 4 release date details emerge in the hours after Samsung’s announcement and here, we want to take a look at all of the important things buyers need to know about said details. Here’s what Galaxy Note 4 buyers need to know about the Galaxy Note 4 release date in the United States and around the globe.

Galaxy Note 4 Release Date Could Come Early

It’s not confirmed just yet but if you live in China or Korea, you might be able to buy the Galaxy Note 4 ahead of its October release date. A new report from ZDNet Korea claims that SK Telecom is taking pre-orders ahead of an early Galaxy Note 4 release date on September 26th. LG U+ and KT, two other Korean operators, are also reportedly mulling this release date. That date remains unconfirmed but new information backs up this information.

A China Mobile employee on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo claims the Galaxy Note 4 will go on sale in China on September 26th. The information, first spotted by G 4 Games, also suggests that the SM-N9108 will cost 5,199 Yuan while the other model, the SM-N9100, will cost 5,399 Yuan. While the date remains unconfirmed, it does line up with these other details.

It appears that these carriers want to get the Galaxy Note 4 out in an effort to compete with devices like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The Galaxy Note 4 is apparently ready and these carriers are simply waiting for Samsung to give the go-ahead.

Korea is not part of the initial wave of iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus release dates and China’s iPhone 6 could be pushed back to 2015.

Galaxy Note 4 Release Date: October 10th

Last week, Select Samsung stores across the UK began taking pre-orders ahead of the Galaxy Note 4′s release date. The Galaxy Note 4 release date, which is now confirmed for October 10th, falls a week ahead of the U.S. release date. It’s not clear if other regions in Europe will follow suit though the UK is typically at the forefront of important Galaxy release dates.

Galaxy Note 4 Release Date (U.S.)

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date for the United States is confirmed for October 17th. That date applies to AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon, the five carriers that will be including the Galaxy Note 4 in their fall lineups. This date is important because it should be the first day that buyers can physically compare the Galaxy Note 4 to devices like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

We haven’t heard about any smaller carriers so consumers in the U.S. should assume that October 17th will be the only Galaxy Note 4 release date that emerges in the weeks ahead. Smaller carriers have never shown a willingness to carry a niche device like the Galaxy Note 4 and we should see it land on major carriers and major carriers only.

Galaxy Note 4 Pre-Orders Live for AT&T & Verizon

Those of you that are looking to buy the Galaxy Note 4 right now, without any proper physical comparison, can now do so through two U.S. carriers. AT&T and Verizon are currently taking Galaxy Note 4 pre-orders ahead of the Galaxy Note 4 release date in October.

Both AT&T and Verizon offer the Galaxy Note 4 at a number of price points including $299.99 with a new two year contract, discounted up front pricing when signing up with AT&T Next or Verizon Edge and expensive off-contract price points.

Verizon will be charging $700 off-contract while AT&T charges a whopping $826, a price that’s likely going to persuade customers to sign up with a contract, Next or with another carrier.

Galaxy Note 4 Pre-Orders Should Arrive Early & On Release Day

AT&T told us that it plans to start shipping the Galaxy Note 4 starting October 14th. This is not unusual. The carrier almost always rewards those who pre-order Android phones with early shipments. What this means is that AT&T Galaxy Note 4 pre-orders should land in and around October 16th, or, a day or two before the device hits shelves.

Verizon currently says that it’ll be shipping out the Galaxy Note 4 by October 23rd, or, a few days after its concrete release date. While that shipping date is beyond the Galaxy Note 4 release date, we don’t expect Verizon to be late with its shipments. Look for the carrier to get its pre-orders out either ahead or on the release date itself.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Pre-Orders Start This Week

Consider this your public service announcement for T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 pre-orders. The Galaxy Note 4 will go up for pre-order at T-Mobile starting September 24th. T-Mobile’s Galaxy Note 4 will cost $0 up-front, and then $31.24 each month, for 24 months going forward.

Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Pre-Orders Start This Week

Sprint is also going to start taking Galaxy Note 4 pre-orders this week though its date falls two days later on September 26th. Sprint will also charge $299.99 on-contract. The carrier also says that it will offer it on Sprint Easy Pay where qualified buyers can purchase the Galaxy Note 4 with $0 down (plus tax) and 24 monthly payments of $30. The full retail price at Sprint will be $720, lower than AT&T’s asking price.

U.S. Cellular Galaxy Note 4 Pre-Order Date Unknown

U.S. Cellular confirmed the Galaxy Note 4 release date for October 17th though it hasn’t said anything about price or pre-orders. We expect it to charge around $299.99 on-contract to keep pace with other carriers though that remains unconfirmed at this point. The carrier tells us that it will reveal more information as we approach October 17th.

Don’t Expect Stock Shortages

You should know that the Galaxy Note 4, unlike the iPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy Note Edge, will be widely available when its released. We haven’t seen shipping times strain at AT&T or Verizon and we’re hearing that Samsung is prepared for the arrival of the Galaxy Note 4.

Recent Galaxy Note 4 release details from Yonhap News in Korea quote a Hyundai Securities analyst who claims that while Samsung plans to ship 11 million units of the Galaxy Note 4, it might only ship 1 million units of the Galaxy Note Edge. The analyst believes that the low yield is due to the manufacturing difficulties that come with the Galaxy Note Edge’s display.

So while we will likely see Galaxy Note Edge shipping problems, we probably won’t have to endure them with the Galaxy Note 4.

Most Galaxy Note 4 Deals Won’t Show Up Until October

We’ve seen some trade-in offers emerge for prospective Galaxy Note 4 buyers though the real, no strings attached Galaxy Note 4 deals probably won’t arrive until the Galaxy Note 4 release date in October.

Retailers typically don’t reveal their plans until much closer to the actual release date and in the case of the Galaxy Note 4, we may not see the good deals emerge until mid-October. Amazon in particular is known for displaying its deals on the release day itself.

iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus

Galaxy Note 4 buyers would also be wise to check out the new iPhone 6 Plus from Apple. Apple’s new 5.5-inch iPhone 6 hit shelves on Friday and while it’s still difficult to find, consumers that want a big screen smartphone would be wise to go hands on with it before the Galaxy Note 4 release.

New Moto X Release Date

It’s looking like the new Moto X from Motorola will emerge before the Galaxy Note 4. Rumors suggest that the new Moto X release date will land in October, perhaps this week on at least one U.S. carrier. The new Moto X is one of the best Android smartphones we’ve ever put our hands on and it’s worth a look from Galaxy Note 4 buyers.

Galaxy Note Edge Release Date

The Galaxy Note Edge, the Galaxy Note 4’s in-house rival, will be hitting the U.S. this year but it’s not clear as to when. At this point, we’re expecting it to land after the Galaxy Note 4 release in October.

This presents a bit of a predicament amongst buyers because the Galaxy Note Edge and its bent display present a solid alternative to the Galaxy Note 4. We suggest keeping up to date with the Galaxy Note Edge release as we push closer to the holidays and Black Friday.

We should see Samsung make its move in just a few short weeks.
