Galaxy Note 4 Release: 7 Last Minute Tips for Buyers

Published

on

With a massive Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date set for this Friday, we want to offer some last minute tips that could help those looking into buying the Galaxy Note 4 on its release date or in the days ahead.

Samsung’s all new Galaxy Note 4 is an impressive smartphone and one that comes loaded with high-powered specs including a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, a brand new 16MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, a new S Pen stylus, Android 4.4.4 KitKat software that’s backed by TouchWiz, and a brand new design that comes with both plastic and metal materials. It’s a device that many consumers are taking a look at, especially now that the Galaxy Note 4 release date is just a few short days away.

While Samsung was silent about the Galaxy Note 4 release date back in early September, we’ve seen the release make great strides in the weeks since its arrival on stage in Berlin. Samsung has confirmed the release for 140 countries around the world, many of which will release the Galaxy Note 4 onto shelves during the month of October.

This Friday, October 17th, will serve as one of the biggest Galaxy Note 4 release dates of all as the company plans to push the Galaxy Note 4 live in the United States, the United Kingdom, and India. All three are massive markets and key battlegrounds in Samsung’s fight against the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the HTC One, and others.

We’ve heard from a number of people who are struggling with a decision ahead of the Galaxy Note 4’s release date this Friday. Not surprising given how competitive the market is right now. With those people in mind, we want to offer some last minute buying advice to prospective Galaxy Note 4 buyers, ahead of the Galaxy Note 4’s release date later this week.

Do Not Pre-Order Right Now

There is no reason to put in a Galaxy Note 4 pre-order now ahead of Friday’s Galaxy Note 4 release date. If you’ve waited this long, you should wait for the Galaxy Note 4 to hit shelves. Not only will this allow you to go hands on, it will allow you to take advantage of any day one deals that might arrive alongside side.

Retailers like Amazon will often slash pricing on day one to make their devices more attractive. We’re not talking $100 discounts but we could see the Galaxy Note 4 drop a bit from its $299.99 on-contract price point.

Pre-ordering offers you one advantage and that’s getting the Galaxy Note 4 in and around its October 17th release date. That’s it. Do yourself a favor and wait for the Galaxy Note 4 to arrive before you buy it.

Keep an Eye on Galaxy Note 4 Pre-Orders

If you decided to put in a pre-order for the Galaxy Note 4, you should start keeping an eye out for shipping information. T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 orders have already landed on door steps across the country and AT&T Galaxy Note 4 pre-orders should be shipping out today. Sprint and U.S. Cellular are still committed to a release this Friday so they should be shipping out soon as well.

If you pre-ordered from Verizon, you’ll want to keep an even closer eye out. Verizon’s Galaxy Note 4 release date is still very much up in the air. The carrier continues to allude to an October 23rd ship by date and Amazon’s listing has the device with an October 24th release. We’re not entirely sure how this will play out yet so those that ordered thru Verizon will want to keep an eye out for any movement over the next couple of days.

Double Check Your Galaxy Note 4 Release Date

With the Galaxy Note 4 release date still proving to be rather shifty at some carriers, you’ll want to check in with your carrier ahead of time to confirm its plans for Samsung’s Next Big Thing.

For instance, U.S. Cellular just announced its pre-orders, weeks after its rivals. Verizon’s Galaxy Note 4 release is still very cloudy so you’ll want to be sure to get in touch with your local store if you’re planning to skip online sales. We’ve also seen some carriers finally confirm Galaxy Note 4 release date details. Rogers in Canada for instance just announced pre-orders and a release date of October 24th. (A similar date to Verizon’s.)

Galaxy Note 4 Features - IR Port Remote Control

Point is, the Galaxy Note 4 is a bit confusing in the United States and elsewhere. Carriers and retailers won’t have all of the answers but it’s worth putting a call or visit in ahead of the Galaxy Note 4’s arrival to ensure that they’ll have it when they say they’re going to have it. We’ve seen delays hit the Galaxy Note 4 release date so you can’t be too sure.

Go Hands-on Now, If You Can

When we went to a Best Buy the other day, we were able to go hands on with the Galaxy Note 4 in one of Samsung’s Experience in-store shops. Samsung and Best Buy aren’t heavily promoting this hands-on time and we’re not sure how limited it is but it looks like at least a few stores have demo units available to handle.

As we’ve noted many, many times, the Galaxy Note 4 is a device that you absolutely need to go hands on with ahead of time. It comes with a massive display which makes for a massive overall size and it comes with an S Pen stylus that contributes to its hefty $299.99 price tag. Do you really need the S Pen and the large display?

Note-4-5

You’d better make sure and the only way to do that is by heading down to a store ahead of its release, this Friday or a day after its release. Do not buy this without going hands on first.

You also should also wait to go hands on with top rivals including the LG G3, iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy S5, Motorola Droid Turbo, and the Nexus 6. And in some cases, the Galaxy Note Edge. If you haven’t done your homework on any of these devices and if you haven’t gone hands on, do not buy the Galaxy Note 4 this Friday.

Want Pink or Gold? Prepare to Wait

If you want the pink or the gold Galaxy Note 4, save yourself the trouble and stay home on Friday. They’re not going to be available in the United States on day one and there’s a very good chance that it’s going to take weeks for them to arrive.

Those of you who are at all interested in these colors should not settle for black and white. If your phone is holding up, simply remain patient and wait for Samsung to deliver the goods. We know that the gold Galaxy Note 4 is en route to some regions and we would not be surprised if Samsung got that model out in the U.S. ahead of the holidays.

Wait a Bit for Accessories

Should you find yourself in a carrier or retail store on Friday or on a day in the near future, do your best to avoid buying Galaxy Note 4 accessories. While there should be ample stock available to you, there will also be some Galaxy Note 4 accessory releases down the road as manufacturers work to get their products out ahead of Black Friday and the holidays.

Note-4-3

In other words, don’t buy the first case or dock that you see. Wait a little bit, if you can, for the market to open up. You should have a ton of good stuff at your disposal before the month of November is over. You’re already going to have to shell out a ton of money for the Galaxy Note 4 and there’s no sense in making impulsive Galaxy Note 4 accessory purchases on day one.

Resist.

Do Not Pay Full Price for the Galaxy Note 4

Do not, we repeat, do not pay full price for the Galaxy Note 4. Not only will we probably see straight up deals emerge in the days and weeks after the initial Galaxy Note 4 release, retailers and carriers are offering trade-ins that will allow you to knock up to $200 off the price of the Galaxy Note 4. That’s a substantial price cut for a new phone that costs $300 on-contract.

Be patient, seek out a good price for your older phone and get some money off the Galaxy Note 4 if you can. If you don’t have a phone to sell, we highly recommend waiting a few weeks to see if retailers drop the Galaxy Note 4 price ahead of Black Friday and the start of holiday shopping. Do not pay full price for this phone.

It would be nice to see a story about why Verizon is so darn late to the party and why they refuse to give any concrete details. If you could manage to get concrete details from them that would be even better.

Why is Samsung sending the good Note 4 to Europe (octo-core Exynos processor and 64-bit capability) while only sending the lousy version to the US (quad-core Snapdragon processor and only 32-bit capability)? Especially with people predicting that 32-bit phones are going to be out-dated in the near future with Android L and other 64-bit updates.

This writer forgets that samsung itself is offering a rebate with trade in for “almost any” smart phone. This means those old ones laying around the house. And its only offered to those that preorder.
