Galaxy Note 4 Release: Early Upgrades on Verizon, T-Mobile

Published

The Galaxy Note 4 release date arrives next month and two carriers are already offering early upgrades to customers who would normally not be able to buy the Galaxy Note 4 until November.

Although most carriers no longer offer early upgrade options that move the upgrade date up a few months like they used to, Verizon and T-Mobile are offering early upgrades that allow users to buy on the Galaxy Note 4 release date instead of waiting for their contract to end later this year.

You don’t need to buy the Galaxy Note 4 for this early upgrade option, so if you qualify the iPhone 6 release this Friday and the upcoming Moto X (2014) release are also on the table.

Early upgrades come for many waiting on the Galaxy Note 4 release date.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date is in October, but carriers like Verizon and AT&T are not sharing a specific date yet. Odds are good that the Note 4 release comes at least 14-days after the iPhone 6 release date and recent rumors point to the week of October 13th globally.

Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy Note 4 release is also heating up as the devices pass through the FCC and other certifying bodies as the device moves closer to carrier shelves.

Thanks to two changes the T-Mobile and Verizon Galaxy Note 4 release dates will be a little bit busier. Here’s how to find out if you are part of the early upgrade.

Yesterday we learned that Verizon delivered early upgrades to customers with an upgrade date of November 15th or earlier. Droid-Life discovered this change, and it’s important that you go check your account since that’s the only way you’ll know if you qualify for the early upgrade to the Galaxy Note 4.

You can login online or if you are holding the phone, call #UPG from the dialer and you will get a text message with your upgrade date.

It is unlikely that they will offer early upgrades for users who miss this mark by even a day, but you can try calling customer service if you want to give it a try.

The T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 early upgrade option isn’t as widespread, but the carrier sent out a postcard to select customers on a contract that ends later this year offering an early upgrade. Although T-Mobile now offers JUMP and off contract phones, there are some users still on plans from before the switch and T-Mobile wants to use the lure of the iPhone 6 and Galaxy Note 4 release to convince them to switch.

A member of the Gotta Be Mobile staff received a post card from T-Mobile last month letting him know that his contract was done two months early and he could buy a new phone on T-Mobile.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 features a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution on a 5.7-inch screen with an S Pen to take notes and interact with the display. In addition to delivering an upgraded display Samsung finally offers a metal frame that they match with a soft touch back. There is now a fingerprint reader in the home button, a variety of sensors and an updated 16MP camera with optical image stabilization.

Samsung also announced the Galaxy Note Edge, with a curved display. This device is coming to many U.S. carriers, but there is no confirmation of the Note Edge release date yet.
