Galaxy Note 5 Nougat Update: 6 Reasons to Get Excited & 1 Not To

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Nougat release date hasn’t landed yet but it’s time to start getting excited about the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat update and its release.

Samsung’s Galaxy Android Nougat update roll out continues to gather steam as we push into the month of March.

The company’s Nougat roll out is currently focused on five devices including the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7 Active, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S6 Edge. We expect a few more devices to join the party in the near future.

One of those devices is the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, the big screen device that launched the year before the company’s ill-fated Galaxy Note 7.

The Galaxy Note 5 currently runs Samsung’s version of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow which means Android Nougat will be the device’s second major operating system upgrade. Given the device’s age, it could also be its last.

As we’ve pushed deeper into Samsung’s Nougat release we’ve learned quite a bit about Samsung’s plans for the Galaxy Note 5.

With a release on the horizon, we want to take you through a few of the things you should be excited about if you’re the proud owner of a Galaxy Note 5.

We also want to take a look at a couple of things that might leave you a bit disappointed as we close in on the Galaxy Note 5 Android 7.0 Nougat update’s release in the United States and countries around the world.

Galaxy Note 5 Nougat Release Could Be Very Close

Galaxy Note 5 Nougat Release Could Be Very Close

Perhaps the first thing to get excited about is the potential for a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Nougat release next month.

Samsung's confirmed a Galaxy Note 5 Nougat release for the first half of 2017 but we expect it to land long before the end of Q2 (June). In fact, we could see a Galaxy Note 5 Android 7.0 release take place, well, any day now.

Let's begin with some basics. We know that the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat update is making progress in testing because its 1) shown up in benchmarks and 2) its recently received Wi-Fi certifications for several regions including the United States. A Wi-Fi certification is necessary ahead of a public release.

So we know the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat release is moving in a positive direction. We also know that at least one arm of Samsung believes the update will be released in March.

Samsung Turkey recently released a Nougat roadmap, seen in a screenshot here. The roadmap, which the company has since pulled, lists the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat release in March.

Everything depends on testing but it looks like Samsung was/is aiming to get the Note 5 update out around the same time as the Galaxy S6 Nougat update.

With the Galaxy S6 Nougat update roll out underway, the Galaxy Note 5 Nougat update could start rolling out soon and that's pretty exciting.

Not impressed as I had a note 7 & having to go back to the note 5 I wasn’t happy but I did try s7edge & hated it so the note 5 it was . I think everything that was on the note 7 should be able to go on the note 5 as manner of the features are on the s7edge. But all I want is for you lot to stop updating my note 7 as it’s fine & want to keep my battery life as it is thx

My Galaxy Note 5 updated yesterday to Nougat and I’ve had nothing but problems since. No contact names on message, main gmail account will not sync despite several reboots and a cache partition wipe, no home screen notifications about emails, messages and probably the worst, the phone dialer is not functional. I will likely have to do a factory reset and hope for the best.
Not much to like so far about this upgrade!

Did the update 2 days ago on my Note 5 and what a mistake. Should have resisted doing it. All sorts of problems. My work email app, MobileIron, keeps crashing. Fast charging doesn’t work consistently. Battery drains fast. Oh how I wish I could uninstall this update. A complete disaster.

This has become ridiculous my friends in Australia who have the S7 or S7edge got the nought back in February so what about the note 5 as they came out after the S6 & S6edge so it should be used next. Everytime an update comes to the note series it come just before the next note is just about to be released & as we had to give the note 7 back we have been left in the lurch so do they plan on giving us the nought update like Turkey and areas around that region or not ?? Buy the look of it Samsung won’t give us the update & due to the note 7 debarkle my hand me down hasn’t happened so there still on the note 4 so it’s going to be the same no updates before the new note 8
Why can’t Samsung pull there finger out as I have always purchased my phones direct from a major retailer & i have NO TELECOM LOGO on it so they should have priority over everyone else for gods sake GIVE US OUR UPDATE TO NOUGHT PLEASE & not till just before the note 8 comes as the software update were great on the Note 7 & updated S7 & S7edge are great does anyone care about use ??? We’re not asking for much just the update !!!!!!! & Australians are always the last to get the updates as we’re on the bottom of the world ( & no one cares about us ) we are just important as the rest as the world PLEASE GIVE US THE UPDATES ASAP

I have get rid of this recent Note 5 update. It screwed up my keyboard (awful lag issues, Swype isn’t working the same, autocorrect is being extra dumb and randomly changing words that were perfectly fine), I have to restart my phone just to make outgoing calls when it randomly hangs up instead of dialing, etc. It is just way too glitchy.
