Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Release Date Heating Up

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge release date continues to heat up as early Galaxy Note Edge pre-orders have emerged ahead of the Galaxy Note Edge release date.

At the beginning of September, Samsung announced a slew of new products including a brand new Galaxy Note 4 and a surprise device called the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. The Galaxy Note 4 will be the true successor to last year’s Galaxy Note 3 and it will go on sale with a number of high-powered features starting in mid-October. The Galaxy Note Edge, a device that shares a lot in common with the Galaxy Note 4, will deliver those some explosive specs but with a curved display.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge features a Quad HD resolution, a 2.7 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 805 with 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Samsung TouchWiz, 16MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, massive battery, and a thin 8.3mm frame. It also comes with an S Pen stylus though the display, seen in the video below, should be its biggest draw.

At its Unpacked 2014 event, Samsung announced many of the key Galaxy Note Edge features including hardware, software, and carriers. It even announced a Galaxy Note Edge release date for later this year. However, Samsung failed to mention anything about the specific Galaxy Note Edge release date or the Galaxy Note Edge price leaving it up to us to fill in the blanks for consumers ahead of its official announcements. Fortunately, we’ve seen that information trickle out over the past few weeks.

While we still don’t have an official Galaxy Note Edge release date, the Galaxy Note Edge release is starting to heat up thanks to new bits of information from retailers and Samsung itself.

Clove UK, a retailer based out of the United Kingdom, has been one of the more vocal retailers. Earlier this month, the retailer passed along information from its distribution channels, information that hinted at a delayed Galaxy Note Edge release date in the UK and in other parts of Europe. Here is what it said at the time:

When the Note Edge launches, there will not be UK stock available. It will not be available in the majority of European countries.

For those customers that are interested in purchasing the Note Edge, we will look to source non-UK stock. This means that, if possible, we will purchase the stock intended for one of the countries where the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is due to launch.

It appears that the retailer has made good on its promise to find other stock because Galaxy Note Edge pre-orders, with a placeholder price tag, recently emerged on its website.

These Galaxy Note Edge pre-orders come with a very steep asking price though the retailer says that the “official Price and availability” will be confirmed down the road. In other words, this price may not stick when the Galaxy Note Edge release date hits the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, these pre-orders do not confirm a specific Galaxy Note Edge release date for buyers in Europe but it does mean that there might be a way to buy ahead of the official release.

The Galaxy Note Edge release date in the U.S. appears to be on track for later this year though carriers remain tight lipped about the specific release date. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon all confirmed the Galaxy Note Edge release for later this year though none of them are taking pre-orders. They are, however, taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Note 4 ahead of its release on October 17th.

Not all Galaxy Note Edge release dates will fall in 2014 though. In mid-September, Samsung unexpectedly revealed some new Galaxy Note Edge release date information for North America. While it did not include Canada in its initial Galaxy Note Edge announcement, the company confirmed that Galaxy Note Edge release date in Canada will take place and that it will take place next year in 2015. It’s still not clear if other regions will join in.
